Yes, it converts the 4K signa to optical, then back on the other end, allowing much longer distances to be connected. This is done using power from the 5VDC at your source device's HDMI port.

Crazy price. I'd hate to bury this thing in a wall though knowing it's only 4k/60. Good for any use case where it will be easily replaceable.

What is the benefit of having this long cable? I'm genuinely curious. I currently use Ethernet cable to transmit video to my devices. Then small hdmi cable to TV. Are there any instances where this would be useful in a home setup?

In an instance where either the transmitter or receiver doesn't have ethernet capability, this is a quick turnkey solution for getting video and audio digitally across a long distance on the cheap.

One example would be a surveillance DVR in a secured location with a display conveniently placed for monitoring camera feeds.

I considered this long htmi cable before when I planned to have a feeling mount projector. So the cable will be from my entertainment cabinet through the wall and to the ceiling and then to the projector

My theatre has a 100" that is about 30 feet from the receiver. I already bought one.

The general research I've done online says 4k should be limited to 25' normally for 4k. So I assume the fiber optic changes that? Worth a shot

Not rates as such, but not really necessary for the 5V and half an amp of HDMI.
