I really wish this was just the Mr. Rogers parody segments and nothing else because they're all gold. Everyone in the show is great you just wish they had better writers to do the story justice.
I've never seen season 2 because I had no desire to go through that experience again.
It can whip from funny to serious a lot but it handles it really well (tho it's clearly not other guy's cup of tea) but I can see how it's not for everyone.
The dysfunctional family at the heart of the story is wild

Thx. It looks like Amazon [amazon.com] dropped the price to $4.99 too.
The whole show is about the dichotomy between his whimsical/idyllic life in the show he hosts versus the pain in his personal life and his inability or unwillingness to acknowledge those differences. What some might see as whiplash between tones is what I liked about the show: a person who is living in two worlds being forced to reconcile those worlds and the people in them. The fact he's rich and famous complicates the whole thing in a good way by giving him unique opportunities for both connections with other people and buffers between himself and reality.
They did take some bigger creative swings in the second season (even going so far as surrealism), but I still found it entertaining and relatable enough.
