There is also a 500 point promo for recycling used batteries or old tech, which has a limit of one per month

Just a regular ole staples member here with a 10 ink jet/toner cartridge recycle monthly limit.

Took in 20 cartridges and a battery.
(10) x 100 regular points each cartridge
(1) x 500 regular points for a battery
(10) x 500 BONUS points each cartridge
6500 total

Who knew recycling could be so rewarding.woot

Exactly, easy way to rack up points. Sometimes they just ask you how many you're dropping off so they can ring you up and then they don't even count the # of toner after they print the receipt
thats bad. they have fooled me in the past. I did not know this. I have always dropped off multiple items and they have just given me ONE reward.

Just wondering - what items do folks usually buy from Staples? I almost never go to staples as most other stores are cheaper

Why? Should we spend all the rewards now?

Staples manager told me their new policy is they will only accept 20/month, and they will be making you open the app to show them your account's remaining allotment.

Anyone else, or is my store making stuff up…?

No, I hadn't heard anything like that. It sounded like the number of cartridges you could redeem and they would send you a message directly. Just something the cashier mentioned briefly.

Sounds like they are making stuff up. No way can they force you to install an app on your phone, or even have a phone. I've still got an old Motorola flip phone with the pull-out antenna that I've been saving for just this moment.

But I do have lots of experience with certain Staples stores making stuff up and insisting on it - so it might happen.
