As an avid bass fisherman, I can give a positive review on this reel. I have it and the cork grip hasn't fallen off for me. I have about 3 of these in my boat. This is an older model they are clearing out their inventory. You can get it for around $59.99 elsewhere, so the savings is pretty good.

Normally I jump on fishing deals but this one has got me weary. Multiple reviews on different sites mention the cork grip on the reel falling off. Pass on this one but thanks for posting regardless.

Had one for several years that bangs around in boat rod locker. Handle is still fine.

I have one as well. No issues with the cork grip falling off. After using it, I found that I prefer a rubber grip.

I'm a shimano guy, but for $50 this is a nice reel, snagged one in size 25.

Just FYI: President's size is smaller than japanese ones. Meaning their 25/30 size will be closer to 1000/2000 of Japanese counterparts. So check the line/drag ratings.

I had one of these and loved it until my daughter dropped it to the bottom of a lake. Zero issues with it, other than it's early demise. If you like color matching, it pairs well with a Berkley Lightning Rod, which has little red accents that come close to matching.

I was turned on to Pflueger reels about 20 years ago and haven't had any break, including the original one I bought 20 years ago. I recommend matching it up with a St. Croix rod for the best action.

For some reason I was thinking the opposite, now I notice you're completely right. I don't really have a good use for one as small as the 25 I just ordered, oh well.

Assuming you wanted a standard 20/2000 or 25/2500 sized reel, your best bet would be to get a 30 or 35 here. Maybe cancel the order then reorder or return the first one. Or you can use the 25 for ultralight panfish or trout fishing. With 30/35 you get higher ratio 6.2, so you can get a faster retrieve for appropriate application.

Yeah, it already shipped, I will say they are fast with shipping lately there. Oh well I can return or stick it on an ultralight rod just for the halibut.
