For 2 miles, i'd go with the scooter. It's much more portable and range won't be a problem. The Lectric bike will get you farther and probably be a little more comfortable if you'd rather sit down.

Pretty solid stats. 20mph scooter with dual suspension for $600 by the premium company. Excited to see prices coming down and eventually can get a really solid scooter for under $500.

After owning an ebike, the battery seems like you can get only around 20miles and not the 40miles advertised. Is the rule of thumb for escooter also around 20Wh/mi?

I'm curious if anyone with more knowledge of the technology here can shed light on why after quite a few years of this type of product they're still maxing out weight capacity in the mid-200lb range even for models that don't offer a ton of miles in the first place. I'm 6'3", 220 which
statistically isn't even that "big" (the average adult male weight in the US for all heights is roughly 200lb) but pretty much any model I look at I'm pushing 80% of the max weight capacity, which I assume means I would get nowhere near the advertised max range on this thing. Am I looking at the wrong brands or models, or is this just a natural limitation of the currently available battery technology?

The average adult male weight in the US for all heights is roughly 200lb, so anybody over 6ft tall is probably pushing 80% of the max weight capacity for this thing, which I assume negatively impacts the battery life even more. Are they just not interested in the bigger demographic, or is it more a function of technology limitations right now?
my guess is that the motors are not large enough to haul a 300lbs person around and not cause early failure. That being said I ordered the f3 for my 6'6 305 lineman for college. Mostly flat terrain.

I had a segway ninebot and it died so fast. Barely 30 miles on it.
After that, I would never buy another Segway scooter ever. the Xaiomi Mi scooter is superior quality
I have 2 scooters made by Segway that easily have more than a 1000 miles on it

Interesting. Curious what they'll see for range.

... the 1000W scooters in Europe go 40mph, that sounds sorta more fun.
Those exist here too... Segway is artificially limiting these in certain ways, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

2 issues:
Structural capacity and motor capacity. Frame strength vs lightness/cheapness and motor capacity. Big riders need more watts and more battery to push them up hills and those motors and batteries need good cooling designs, etc. It all adds cost
There are definitely scooters that can handle a 300 pound rider. From Segway - The G2/G3 Max, for example. The GT3 can handle 330.
Other manufacturers make 300 pound capable scooters as well. A lot of them are the more beefy "superscooter" types with full suspensions, etc... The inmotion S1f is an interesting sort of "hybrid" scooter, it has aspects of a mid-level scooter but capable of carrying larger riders.

That being said, at the end of the day a lot of these scooters rated at 200, 250 pounds can probably carry a 300 pound rider just fine, it's just going to reduce range and possibly motor life a bit if they're lower wattage motors. I suspect it's more about stated range and the liability aspect of structural stability, though. A scooter rated at 30 miles range is going to have unhappy customers if it only gets 15 miles with a bigger rider.

I don't know anything about rules of thumb but the max range ratings on these are "ideal conditions" meaning 150 pound rider riding at 10-15mph or whatever.

For 2 miles I'd walk, or get a cheaper bike if there's no sidewalk.

Good for you, but sometimes you just don't want to walk or you want to spend your time doing something else. I also don't want to be sweaty when I go to work. I am a runner and 2 miles is nothing to me, but I still use my scooter to get groceries or do some local errands that are 1 mile or less away. Walking 2 miles takes about 30 minutes vs a scooter would take less than 10 minutes. Quite a savings in time.

There is no standard because there's so many different weights of scooters and people and performance levels. It says 44 max but that's an Eco mode with somebody that probably weighs 160 pounds and on flat ground. It says 25 in sport mode.
