Likely because they aren't familiar with memory chips, and lots of things in the world are backwards-compatible. Will a Thunderbolt 3 accessory work with a Thunderbolt 4 port? Yes. Will a USB 2 accessory work with a USB 3 port? Yes. Will an NVME 3 SSD work in an NVME 4 slot? Yes. It's a perfectly reasonable question, and the answer is simply no in this case.

People learn by asking questions. I say this with total sincerity: making someone feel stupid for asking a question makes the world a worse place.

I just went through an absolute nightmare on one of the MSI b850 boards. It was one that was on sale about 3 weeks ago. I spent more than a dozen hours trying to get it to work and nothing would function. I've been building computers since probably about 2000. I've never had a dead out of the box or non-functioning out of the box motherboard before. MSI support system required me to enter the serial number to get support and they wouldn't accept the serial number. So I couldn't get support directly and had to just go to the store and RMA it. So freaking frustrating. I'm not going to probably touch an MSI motherboard again. I had one probably 15 years ago but not since then. If somebody buys it I hope it works out of the box but they're BIOS update system built into the motherboard is incredibly finicky and doesn't accept most forms of USB sticks. I tested out I think eight different sticks with capacities from 256 megabytes all the way to 128 GB. None of them would work.

No ddr5 slot is different. It would need to say ddr4 support where 2 slots would support it

"AM5 Motherboards Sheet" makes it looks like power delivery is solid enough to handle any cpu, probably couldnt overclock 16+ cores id wager but it should last

What is the cheapest AMD cpu that you recommend with this motherboard?

I will upgrade the cpu in the future when the prices get lower. Thanks in advanced

Just a reminder,
This MSI Pro B650 Wifi board when paired with a CPU like 7950x/9950x/9950x3d, the VRM will heat up to 113 degree C in a 21C room.

This is not a good thing. But when the board is paired with 8400F/7600/7600x/9600x, this is not a problem. The 6 cores CPUs just dont use as many watts as the 16 cores ones.

Quote from Xamindar :
Why do people keep asking this? No, ddr4 will not work in ddr5 slots. That's WHY they changed the name. Was the same with ddr1 to ddr2, then ddr2 to ddr3, then ddr3 to ddr4, etc. Why in any reality would people think it would suddenly change with ddr4 to ddr5? It's completely bonkers.
