It's good for perennial herbs like mint and chives which would otherwise take over the whole garden.

Got this deal last year to hold a hose. Works great. Holds 75' of one of those 'nylon' flexible hoses no problem (with plenty of capacity to spare) and looks nice. Drilled a few holes in the bottom for drainage. The only issue I have with them is that they fall over when pulling hose out because they're so light but I don't really care. Could throw a brick in the bottom if you wanted I suppose.

Fill them half or 3/4 with all natural mulch (like pine bark) and then put your regular bagged soil or something, you're good to go.

I know it's plastic but still seems like a good deal if you have enough dirt to fill them with.
Way back in those "old" days, if we were not using the pot for growing food, etc. we would just use aluminum cans to fill the bottom half of the pot. Those took up lots of space but didn't rust because they were aluminum and if you put the cans in upside down they didn't hold extra water! Just check every week or so in case you have squirrels that like to hide nuts.

Just go to store and buy it, it still there.
The problem with that is, in store, the checkouts ring them up BOGO free, so you have to purchase an even amount of them... My mom wanted four, aunt wanted three, got to self checkout and last one rang up full price and the head cashier wouldn't budge on removing $8.48, and said they don't match their online pricing. So I left my cart, walked all the way back out to the garden center, got an eighth pot, finished checking out, and then returned one on the way out. What a stupid farking policy.

HD shows a variety of pictures for this on their website, which is confusing. I bought these and returned them because I didn't like the color. They are the lighter redder tone, not the darker brown.

I received my shipment today, and the planters were very stinky, but being PP5 (polypropylene) they're supposedly food safe. Now that I got a deal on a big bale of peat moss, I have to whip up a batch of potting mix and figure out what I'm going to put in them.

My 12 were just delivered in 3 boxes. 2 will be used as solar fountains with garden pots inside for different levels. The rest will be for flowers and tomato plants. To fill cheaper, fill with 2 ltr bottles with caps on, plastic milk containers, gravel, water bottles, cardboard, branches or sticks, leaves, grass clippings, etc. But just remember to drill holes. Lots of holes.
What is a good inner plastic planter for this for indoor plants. Don't want drill holes but want to grow palms, money trees with an inner plastic planter.

Any suggestions or recommended sizes? This is weird size because it's 20" width at top & 12" width at bottom.

I would buy the 16" and fill with white gravel/pebbles to the top of inner pot to conceal the pot in pot.

~$8 each isn't bad, chalk up the tax to delivery/gas so...decent enough I guess.

These are nice but make sure you drill out the bottoms and consider drainage, or move them when it rains. We had several days of rain here and I ended up with a swamp full of algae in mine.

I make Self watering pots for my figs. out of these as the holes are NOT drilled out until you do them.
My SWP's last about 5 years before the pots start to fail. By that time it needs a repot anyway.
Great idea! How does one set this up, x racer?

We were at HD the other day and my son asked for two of these for his plants. They seem like they are sturdy, and a good deal at 8.50 a piece. We might pick up two more!
