At an indoor range I always wear ear plugs with ear muffs over them because you just never know what caliber someone brings that make your rib cage rattle. Once you lose your hearing it never comes back so you can never be too cautious there

I was looking for a new pair of Bluetooth earmuffs for when I use my zero turn, looks like you can find these for about $33 on amazon as well. One thing I don't love about them is they take triple A batteries instead of being rechargeable. But reviews on them were very positive

I bought a pair with an internal battery and it died after a few uses. Now they're just passive. Quick swapping batteries could be a pro

23db rating. I'd say it's "good enough." I played hookie at work and went to an indoor range at the same time as a local police department. They were qualifying with rifles and by the end I was shaking. These took the sound from unbearable to Slayer concert. I still wear them, but I use passive foam plugs underneath the muffs.

How do these compare to the Walkers single-mic version posted yesterday for $13? I know, 4x the mics on this one, but what is the difference in practice?

Multiple mics makes the sound directional.

It's not an issue when you're alone at the range with shots going off all around you.

But it can be a little disconcerting (annoying?) not knowing which direction your instructor's/companion's (etc) voice is coming from.

Also, as no one else has mentioned it yet in this thread:

If you're wearing these for more than an hour at a time, it's well worth keeping your eye out for a deal on the replacement gel pads/cups. The included foam ones are fine for a typical indoor 1 hour stint, but after that you can start to feel it, and the gel ones are just a bit better in that regard.

(Obviously if you're shooting all day once a week or something, you're gonna consider getting custom in-ear protection… but for most of us that shoot an hour or two a month, these are perfect. They're just better with the gel cups. I own two pair of Sport Impacts and one of these quads and they're close enough in performance that my advice is always to get whichever one is on sale.)

be careful of your storage environment.. I only go pew pew twice a year for requalls. I kept them in my garage (Florida) and the last time I pulled them out (maybe 3 years old) they were all dry rotted and disintegrated.

No mics helping you hear the person next to you on these if that's important.

not sure why these things are so popular when, for almost the same price when on sale, you can pick up howard leight impact sports, which arent mono, and you can actually tell what direction noises are coming from.

if you need them now and want to save money, go for it. but if you can spend 10 bucks more, r are willing to wait on a sale for the HL, it is a much better buy..

I have these, they are the absolute worst of any electronic hearing protection I've ever used in terms of understanding what people around me are saying. With wind noise, forget about it. I prefer the cheapest peltors over these, even though the peltors completely cut out when there's loud noise instead of compressing it. The peltors I keep for guests and have upgraded since, The model linked in this post lives in my garage for use with power tools which feels like a waste.
