American Airlines AAdvantage Credit Card Promo:

60k Miles for 1.00 purchase within 3 months and 99.00 yearly fee.
(Update: the site now says 70k Miles )

I was handed this AAdvantage Credit card application and promo code on a flight last week. We were told you only need to make a purchase of 1.00 and pay the yearly 99.00 fee to get the 60k Miles, but looks like the site they send you to is now offering 70k miles.

Just go to this site:
American Airlines Application Link [myaviatorcard.com]

Use Promo Code:
814710

I have no Idea how long the promo code is good for. Most of these deals you have to spend 2 or 3k within 90 days.

So if I've had an AA linked CC in the past, even like 10 years ago, I would not be eligible for this offer?

If the $3500 spend in the first 4 months is a nonissue, is the Citi American airlines card offer of 75,000 miles not better? Considering applying for one or the other and trying to make sure I'm not missing something.

You need to consider the opportunity cost. The $3500 spend with a 1% back card is $35 and with 2% it's $70. Assume you get 3500 miles from spending that on the American Airlines card or you could have $70. Nerdwallet says that the miles are worth $0.016 each, so it's 8500 miles ($136) vs $70.

Best advantage to an AA card is 1st checked bag is free for you and up to 4 companions. For one person, that's ~$85 round trip saved.

Flights. To where and when depends on the cost of ticket. But my daughter and I are flying round trip from Charlotte to NYC later this month and I used 35K total points.

Rushing to spend $3.5k in four months is a big opportunity cost compared to putting those dollars onto a higher-cashback card. This one is extremely unique for not having a threshold like that.

Nerdwallet says that 1 mile = $0.016. Note that there's a lot of variation. It's not like Southwest where the mile/point literally has a cash value and works more like a gift card. 70k miles = $1120. YMMV though, as I've seen awesome miles->dollar ratios on some flights and also really crummy ones.

a round trip from DFW to HND (Japan) on Economy (70k - $1,500) or 1-way on Business (60k - $3,500+).

Also consider this card will be discontinued soon, as AA moves to an exclusive with Citi. Might as well get this bonus while you still can.

How much the points worth in Cash or in gift cards if that's an option? Don't travel often and have no future travel plans as well.

Be aware that Barclays enforces a "6/24 rule" - if you've opened 6 or more credit cards within the past 24 months (including any cards where you're just an authorized user), your application is likely to be rejected. My husband got rejected because he opened 3 cc and is an AU of 3 of my cards.

Not an option..just flights or upgrades. Plenty of no annual fee cards out there that give you pts towards gift cards etc. Just pay your bill on time since APR's tend to be high.
