60k Miles for 1.00 purchase within 3 months and 99.00 yearly fee.

I was handed this AAdvantage Credit card application and promo code on a flight last week. We were told you only need to make a purchase of 1.00 and pay the yearly 99.00 fee to get the 60k Miles, but looks like the site they send you to is now offering 70k miles.

I agree with this statement. If you value AA points, get this while you can. Or, do both. Since the Barclay card has no spend requirement, you should be able to swing both cards. Both the SUBs are at very good historical levels.
The points are transferred to your AA account and have nothing to do with the Credit Card issuer. The problem of points disappearing if you get rid of the credit card only exists for Credit Card points programs like Chase Ultimate Reward, Citi Thank You, etc.
When is this card discontinuing?
I believe starting in 2026, Citibank will become the exclusive issuer of American Airlines branded credit cards. When Barclay bank will stop issuing their AA branded cards is unclear.
If you do not have a AAdvantage CC on file with American Airlines your points will expire after 18 months if you do not have any activity on you AAdvantage account.
