Some things to consider:

1.) If you live in the south and have your water heater in the garage, these are great if the slight buzzing noise won't bother you out there.

2.) If you're up north, like me, and you have this in your basement, it does sort of work against your furnace. No idea how much.... But, something to consider, might not give you all the cost savings you want.

I primarily hear my house by wood burning stove, so it really doesn't bother me. But, I didn't necessarily see any electricity savings. I don't mind the dehumidification in the basement though. To each your own, just make informed decisions.
The dehumidification would be cool but my heater backs up to a guest bedroom. I'm worried this will be too loud

This is how commie California made everyone believe in the BS.
Basic water heaters be like $500 and ran forever. Now, these hybrids cost 3x-4x last for nothing. But clowns believe these are the best
5 years now and no issues but I also only paid $800 and got back $500 in rebates/tax deduction. $1500 is a bit ridiculous to me though.

I assume the warranty is only valid if a plumber installs it? I already have a similar unit, and installation would supposedly be $1009. I can literally swap it in 2-3 hours.

I live up north and have had a heat pump water heater for 6 years. It's great. I have it in my utility room so the noise is irrelevant, it dehumidifies, and save me a couple hundred every year from not using electric. Household of 2 and always keep it on heat pump mode. I did have the fan go bad but it was easily replaced. Buy the extended warranty. If you have gas water heater already it's probably not worth it, and if you have electric or propane (expensive heat) it will not save as much in the winter. I have natural gas high efficiency heating, so it puts more load on the furnace in winter but that energy is cheap.

I also bought this brand a few months ago for my new house. it came with a dent and they have a 150$ credit. for me the extra upfront cost is worth it as it will pay for itself in 5 years

I considered the heat pump water heater strongly but the deep dive revealed that it needs some extra piping for condensation line and that it's noisy. The price difference between this and a regular water heater is significant and the break-even point from energy savings would've taken over 5 years, and that's IF utility rates stayed the same (they unfortunately don't). Happy with my regular water heater
But if rates went up youd still save the same money if you were staying with electric? And then youd assume gas wouldnt rise either

The amount of heat extracted from your indoor air by a HPWH is in the same ballpark as the amount of heat added to your indoor air by your refrigerator. Both have compressors in the 3-4 kBTU/hr range, which is an order of magnitude smaller than the average home's heating/cooling system.
