It's worth noting that the TX-8220 is a 2 channel stereo receiver. No video. Completely different use case than the TX-SR3100

Better to spend $200 then, as opposed to $1k. I agree though. All we need is some new codec to become popular and all our gear is for the garage

I didn't pay $200
[IMG]https://static.slickdealscdn.com/images/smilies/wink.gif[/IMG] Just wanted something entry-level for my bedroom. Anyway, it turns out that Adorama DID successfully refurbish this unit, but their technician just forgot to clear the error code from the memory. It works fine.
Btw, what type of Yamaha did you get? Yamaha makes quality receivers imo.
