Toto DOES OEM for Korey and these can be purchased every day at HD for $27. NOT a great deal. You can buy flush valves for $9 any day of the week.
Looks just like a Korky fill valve. Can't see a reason to spend twice on this one.
There's nothin' that a hundred men or more could ever poo
I flush the drains down in Africa

Seems like a good deal, but my only toto toilet in the house is the only one that doesn't need constant repairs. I've had the (new to me) toto for 11 years now and it's the only toilet (out of 5) that has never been repaired (the others seem to require parts every 1-5 years). Props to toto for making shit that seems to last. If mine ever does need parts I'll probably get the toto replacement, NOT some HD branded part like Korky which I use everywhere else. A manufacturer can make parts of differing quality under different brand names.

I've replaced these, but never had to buy one because Kohler has excellent customer service and just sends them for free.

Basically identical "generic" model 528 is $8 instead of the 528GCM in OP:

Some people claim there is a difference in the flow rate, but that is about it.

Plumbing wholesaler here, biggest Toto dealer in our area. What makes a Toto fill valve different from others, they fill the bowl at a faster rate than MOST. So if you put a normal fill valve in a Toto, the bowl won't have enough water in it by the time the tank is full and the float shuts it off. Fluidmaster makes one called a Pro45U that you can actually control the fill rate for the tank to compensate. Of course, if you all would visit your local wholesaler where people actually know what they are selling things like this could be explained by them.

I just had to replace one yesterday and just went to HD and bought it and a replacement hose for ~$30 total. Had to replace cause my water meter was replaced by the city while I wasn't home, so I come home, open the faucet, and it spits at me, next thing you know, the toilet takes 10mins to fill. Took the old fill valve apart and cleaned out the internals that I could get to of rock, sand, and clay. Still didn't fill fast.

Do these valves ever wear out? My Toto is still flushing strong after years of use. I do have a pretty clean public water supply, I guess that makes me lucky.

There are rubber parts/seals that do wear out over time, but you can buy replacements and swap yourself very easily.
