FML, I have 9 of these in my house that are expiring 5-10 months from now. I didn't realize until this thread that they were officially nixed, nor how close mine are to expiration.

So if I drop ~$1k, I can buy another 9 "new" ones and kick this can down the road another 6.5 years (given the relatively close expiration date of these being sold)...

Not sure what to do.

I guess Costco has these for sale for $32.50/piece: https://www.costco.com/first-aler...93715.html
Similar situation and I'm leaning towards these. There are no real alternatives to these besides just getting "dumb" detectors. I like being able to pull up the app to silence the detector when cooking gets smokey. I like the path light. I like that they self-report to the app that they are working OK.

The "new" Nest might end up being fine, sans the path light, but they might also be the half baked buggy product we seem to always get upon launches these days.

This thing along with Nest Thermostat is supposed to turn off your furnace in case of a CO detection -- I'm going to miss that feature and I don't know if the replacement will offer the same feature set.

Try changing your WiFi password. That was a nightmare.

The other weirdness is which app to use? They strong armed me into the Google Home app a while back but it didn't have all of the features of the nest app, and their site said to use the Nest app. Now it is trying to make me switch to Google Home again… fool me twice??
Oh trust me I've been there try to change the password LOL you can't even with help when you're online they can't I ended up getting a refund for mine because I couldn't take it anymore I'm actually going away from Google at this time

My existing NEST protects are going on 10 years and are expiring.

Just received my order for 2, and they are both marked to expire in 2032. I'm happy with getting 7 yrs out of them.

Since you just got some, does it look like they are returnable if you did get ones that were "too old"? I thought I saw that Google does free return shipping but can't find it.
