Curious to hear others experience with this. I have a Beryl AX (GL-MT3000) and it has been fantastic. Curious if this has features that I didn't know I needed (much like learning how incredible the Beryl AX has been when I bought it on a whim).

What do people use this for? does this need a separate hotspot to be connected?

I would say this has less use nowadays.

Several years before I would find hotels that would limit the number of connections to their wifi. This would allow you to connect a single wifi travel router, which then shares that connection to the rest of the devices.

But it has been awhile where I've encountered this scenario.

I believe people may use it on cruises where internet access is a premium and may be charged per device. I dunno haven't been on a cruise but just what I hear.

Additionally, some travel routers also feature VPN functions which allow you to establish VPN links for your devices connected to that router.

Use as a repeater and a local network for all ready setup devices for travel. Hotel internet requires re-login for a duration. Use one device for login and the rest will be good. Family travel should have one.
