So a few things about these ARM laptops:

1. They're some of the best office productivity machines for many users.
2. Don't expect to game on these
3. Media consumption is pretty great on these
4. Battery life is pretty great on these
5. There are some specific apps and drivers that may not work. Standard things are usually fine. Niche things are hit or miss. If you have VPN needs, confirm compatibility before you buy.

I have this laptop and I love it! I game on my desktop or Switch. No VPN problems for me, but some others have them. I even do a fair bit of development on it (VS Code for random things like Python, node, HTML, ML stuff, etc, and Visual Studio proper for .net stuff) when I'm on the road. It's a great laptop for me.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Processor....never saw this processor in a Win 11 laptop before. Wonder how well the drivers are for this? Anyone got this and have experience?

I have the samsung Galaxy edge laptop with same CPU and Win 11. Given you haven't heard about the recent push towards windows on arm I suspect you should be just fine with it. Battery life is great (and this one has larger battery than my Samsung) that is the main benefit. They are also very fast for most standard applications and the screen is amazing. They are very bad at gaming and if you have super old printer or something you might have issues but I would say this is suggesting to you that you might want to upgrade that as well.

I don't have this, but this review may help. Windows on ARM with decent CPU performance, but there will be some apps that crash or won't run. Drivers and graphics compatibility are potential issues.

A lot of large enterprises have gone all in on the ARM Surface devices. Microsoft is committed to them. For productivity use cases, they're great.

From my understanding, these first gen Snapdragon based laptops are actually pretty solid machines.. with caveats. As someone already said, they aren't for gaming because even though Adreno chips support DirectX and Vulkan, it essentially emulate games (Wine for Linux). That doesn't mean gaming is off the table but just know you're not playing Baldur's Gate 3 on this. However, if you're someone who has a lot of 32-bit programs, I would stay away (you have to do the leg work to see what will and won't run on ARM machines). I can't wait to see what Qualcomm cooks up in the future though.

If everything was seamless like Apple's ARM chips, this would be amazing. But until it's at that point -- passeroo

If you find a good enough deal and your apps work on macOS, yeah. The M4 MacBook Air is a great deal for $899 when it's on sale or you get an education discount.
