1. They're some of the best office productivity machines for many users.
2. Don't expect to game on these
3. Media consumption is pretty great on these
4. Battery life is pretty great on these
5. There are some specific apps and drivers that may not work. Standard things are usually fine. Niche things are hit or miss. If you have VPN needs, confirm compatibility before you buy.
I have this laptop and I love it! I game on my desktop or Switch. No VPN problems for me, but some others have them. I even do a fair bit of development on it (VS Code for random things like Python, node, HTML, ML stuff, etc, and Visual Studio proper for .net stuff) when I'm on the road. It's a great laptop for me.

Thanks I appreciate the response. The "it depends" is where I get hung up. He's going to a school where you don't officially declare a major until after sophomore year, he was accepted into pre-engineering, so that's where he wants to land but the first two years are going to be mostly gen ed credits. We asked at the campus visit what they recommended and the advisor said some students use iPads with keyboards and some use laptops and others just use desktops in their dorm room or computer lab. They provide m365 apps, so that's covered and he does not want a Mac.

Funny you say that, I specifically told our IT to stop staff from purchasing these specifically because our enterprise does not have the proper infrastructure to support them.
In fact, a lot of windows enterprise stuff just isn't supported. Not yet anyway.

If you have Unified (support) with MS, take advantage of it. Unless you have some legacy broke ass thick client line of business apps that are misbehaving, you should be in good shape. Could leverage avd or w365 in small corner cases. Good luck out there.
Haha I actually got it but it's still within the return window
There's a few exceptions.
1. You can run Xbox game pass on this through the cloud service. I use it and it works great!
It has the same performance of a MacBook Pro M series. Both are ARM based.
2. You can install PlayStation remote play on here and play your games remotely.
Locally, the only games that can really run on this are simple ones through Microsoft App Store. Not all of them either.
Other than that, this thing excels at being a media device. You can watch all your streaming shows and movies with HDR across the beautiful OLED 120hz display. Even though it's not 4K, it's still sharp enough for a 14" screen that you wouldn't see the difference from a normal position.
Productivity is great! Anything to do with Microsoft office opens super fast!
Something to consider, this is Microsoft's attempt of running windows on ARM based machines. It will take time for it to mature and it will only get better.
The same thing happened with Apple when it released the MacBook M1. The OS worked great, however lots of apps were still playing catchup and general software experienced compatibility issues.
