Deal Details
Creality has some 3D printers on sale for its 11th anniversary, like the K1C for $479 and the K1 Max [creality.com] for $679.
Nothing groundbreaking there, but the printers have gotten a bit more interesting now that the multi-color upgrade kit [creality.com] is technically available (though it's sold out at the moment). This kit lets you use the CFS multi filament unit (same as the K2 Plus and Creality Hi use) with the K1, K1 Max, or K1C.

Both printers are fully enclosed to support printing materials like ABS, the K1 Max has a build volume of about 12" x 12" x 12" (300 x 300 x 300 mm) and the K1C has a build volume of 8.7" x 8.7" x 9.8" (220 x 220 x 250 mm).

I'm shocked they haven't dropped the price closer to the $400 range on the K1C to fend off the Elegoo Centuri Carbon coming in at $300. The centuri carbon is obviously in pre order so they can collect some premium since the K1C is available but I think they are too far.

Agreed, if I didn't have the ECC on pre-order (and more printers than I can use anyway), I'd probably snag this.

How much maintenance and tinkering does this model require? I'm coming from an Ender 3 v2 and I swear I have put in more time fixing that thing then it has spent actually printing. I have been leaning towards the Bambu P1S but I would like to save a couple hundred dollars.

We have a K1 Max at work. It's been a good printer.

Is there any tinkering required? At this point, I just want to print and be done with it. I would rather spend more time with slicer software.

Our Ender V2 Neo and V3 SE have over 1,000 hours of hassle free printing.

I'm guessing those have auto leveling. I feel like that is a big part of it.

For basic prints no tinting but at some point you start to push your luck and need to tinker. I was recently printing a model of a tube frame race car. It took several tries to get things to work on my Flashforge 5M (another good printer). At first I tried to print right on the bed but had issues with some of the long, skinny frame rails lifting. The problem when away when I added a raft under the part. Is that tinkering? I guess but it wasn't a change to the printer. It was a change at the slicer level. I'm general these newer printers don't require dialing in the bed level etc. That doesn't mean you will never have to think about the best way to get the printer to product a part while balancing the use of supports, different bed surfaces (masking tape really is a great bed surface of you didn't care about appearance) etc. None of these systems are at the level of a laser printer where I expect it to print any image I feel it.

Now that I think of it, I just want basic prints. Maybe I never got past that point because my Creality printer wouldn't even keep up with the simple tasks.

The coolest thing I have printed so far was an Iron Man helmet for my son that I had to split in two but it took so many tries and so much wasted filament. Even worse, a lot of wasted time.

Right now I'm dealing with a new issue on top of the other ones: "Printer Killed! Heating failed. Turn off the printer"

I'm just trying to print a Pokemon ball that holds Nintendo Switch games 😭

I may just go with the A1 Mini. If you look at what the OP from this Reddit thread says, that's exactly what I want to use my time doing instead of ripping things apart.
