PSA: Looks like total wireless changed the policy from 60 days after activation to 60 days of active service. This went in to effect April 1st 2025.

Good phone and good deal.

The a35 is good, and is likely the last of the "good" Samsung a-series phones with an SD slot. The a36 and a56 don't have them.

I got the previous (nearly identical) a54 deal and was very happy with it. The two phones are architecturally almost identical (same processors and ram). It's not a speed demon, but is fast enough to do all "normal" stuff, like social media, email, phone, etc... without any real performance problems. Maybe a gamer would be disappointed with it, and it will be getting OneUI 7 very, very soon.

Porting in a number is a hassle -- if you don't already have a phone number.

The whole ID verification is just...how do the kids say it nowadays...."totes wack".

No idea how they're storing your image and credentials -- or who has access to them -- or what the process is for them to expunge that data -- or who is ensuring they're following best practices.

Oh who am I kidding, your DL and image are being sold to the highest bidder. We all know that.

With the new unlocking policy, Total Wireless deals are no longer that attractive. I don't think many people would be willing to do port in and ID verification if they're going to pay 50-60% of the retail price and wait 60 days to unlock the device. Maybe if someone is staying with them for long time but still I think asking for id verification is too much

You care or you don't care about id verification is not the point. The point is the discount now is not that high to warrant asking for it. If they were selling a device for 30-40% of its retail price yes it's understandable but for 50-60% is not. Because at 30-40% many people would want to buy to resell so it's important to limit quantity per person but for 50-60% it's unlikely that many people would be interested in reselling for such little profit.

For my straittalk a16 im going to switch the second month to bronze $35 plan. For me a35 i just bought from TW i will do similar. This just raised the cost but still not horrible. I would not buy again.

I recently bought an IPhone 16e from total wireless and thought I had activated it on March 11. I didnt turn it on for 3 weeks and finally came to check it and realized it was not activated properly. Call customer service, looks like the wrong IMEI was put it and it wasn't really activated properly until April 8. I have a week left on my current plan and have no idea when I can unlock the phone. Do I need to pay for one more or 2 more months? or none?

If the correct IMEI was only activated on April 8 then unfortunately I believe you will have to pay until 60 days have passed since activation. This sadly means two more months. This is my opinion but I could be wrong. Or you could consider the option of rebranding it as Tracfone and pay $10 a month for two months.

Since I already paid for one I can't get refunded I'm going to order a second one since the line of service is nearly half off on the second line. Anyone know if I have to submit ID verification for second line? Will I be able to Port out my phone line after phone unlocks or since it's the last day of the bill it unlocks will that give me enough time?
