I bought this a few months back and DID NOT like it. It is a Chinese knockoff of the Japanese one and about twice the thickness of the Japanese one. it does not bend well, and blade wobbles in the wood handle. after I returned this, I bought the actual Japanese one and I am very satisfied with that.

Can you link to the actual Japanese version you bought and liked?

I also bought this years ago and do not recommend it. All my other japanese style pull saws work great except this one.

SUIZAN is a good Japanese brand to start with.

This is how sushi restaurants are in the US and Europe mostly owned and run by Chinese. But hey they all look Asian and a small bow with konichiwa and bam authentic Japanese. Not that some of them aren't good but Japanese marketing is much better than Chinese marketing.
Wow, that's an odd axe you have to grind there, and some borderline racist generalizations.

I bought this a few weeks ago and I completely agree about the thickness. It's good for certain purposes but I'm going to need a new saw for flush trimming joinery and whatnot.

I have a friend who calls up Sushi restaurants and starts talking in Japanese. If they can't answer back, they call a different sushi restaurant and then go to that one.

I inherited an old Japanese-made pullsaw and they are really nice tools to have around.
