Quote from TheGh0st :
Had two great runs at T today. Found a desk of all things clearanced to 75% in the patio section at one T and snatched it up. A few of the gazebo's there were also 75% but otherwise most of it was at 50%. Didn't buy anything else there as was in a hurry to get home to a contractor coming to bid on painting our house. BUT I did find C9 Hang Tags for the VERY First time and I've been looking for those puppies forever all over the Kansas City area. I swear this has either got to be the first store that has got them in our area or there is a serious group of hang tag snatchers always beating me to the punch.

Then at second T (after the contractor left) I had more time to just look around. There clearance is always behind the rest of town and most of the lawn & garden was still at 30% and none was at 75%. I did spot quite a few baby items like high chairs and car seats at 30% so will be watching to see if they go to 75% before they get snatched up. Also spotted a handful of Star Wars toys at 30%. My Son is still batty about Star Wars so I'll definitely be stalking them. As for purchases here they had an entire endcap FULL of Razors. I picked up 20 and barely made a dent. Also nabbed 10 rolls of bounty, 3 SB Shower Kits, a box of Crest Whitestrips Pro and a couple other small items. My subtotal was $245 before Q's and after Q's I made it down to $0.54 plus tax. Every Q was legit and for correct items and had no issues at the register. The cashier was great and whipped through all the Q's in less than a minute. Person behind me was amazed.

I felt a bit bad as I normally try to keep my transactions MUCH smaller, but needed to get that many razors to offset the Crest Whitestrips which were $44 (less $10mg & $10tq).

I ran out of mq's for the razors but still have 15 tq's can't decide if I should risk buying more for fear of the dreaded update or not.
Sounds like a good shopping trip - correct that 2 good ones!! I will peruse the patio stuff if I get the chance tomorrow with the hopes that I can find something good! Like Teri I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Dunno what to say about ordering Q's .... what does your gut tell you? HUGS

What is up with the poop last two days?

Yesterday I got pulled over and got a ticket.

Today I got the city ordinance violation.

Started my period.

Morphine anyone?
I am sorry that it has all been so bad Frown I hope that tomorrow is a better day!!!!! I have had morphine for ruptured discs ... not a huge fan I have to say LOL Hugs!

Sorry, looks like you have to sign up for yourself and get one of those tou-pons.
Could you give me the instructions on the signing up part - purty pweeze? Thank you!

Quote from ank220 :
Yes... yes you can. You can freeze them whole, sliced, or pureed - all very successfully. Wash, dry, spread on cookie sheet, freeze 20-30 minutes, pop into a ziploc and ta da!!!

You are going to force me to go berry picking you know...
Am I supposed to add sugar to them? I mean once they are frozen and I put them in the ziploc should I add sugar? When you thaw them are they all smushy like the bagged frozen ones from the store or do they stay firmer? What would you use the puree for? How much sugar would you add to that? Can one freeze peaches or cantelope in the same fashion? Thanks for letting me pick your brain!!!!!

Oh and BTW - Go berry picking!!! It is a blast!!! Get sunshine that kills these dern germs AND yummy berries full of good for ya stuff that kills germs! I vividly remember picking strawberries in England as a child and I swear I ate 3 times what I carried in in punnets and we got TONS!!! I then baked them into strawberry tarts (I loved to bake .... still do! LOL) Anyway GO!!!

Quote from ank220 :
You can do pureed in ice cube trays for the same kind of effect if you want - but, I guess it's an extra step unless you need pureed strawberries for other things. I use 'em in baking a lot - just depends on your needs if you want to do the work of pureeing them.
Do you just use a blender? Is it similar to jam? Or thicker? Or waterier like rhubarb? Would you puree other fruits? How much sugar do you use? LOL See you got me going!

Love going back to work. Not too happy about learning to wake up early. Already on nine hour days. Rumour states tens start in two weeks.

Stopped at four wags. Walked through Target tonight. Papa came home with me. Smilie

Those six foot banquet tables are on sale this week for $39. Need one or two more. Will probably do a run tomorrow. Driving towards Milwaukee after work, stop at my favorite target hopefully I remember to bring some coupons for shopping.

There is another clearance starting at Penney's with the 80% clearance, Remember to use your survey 15% coupon too.

Now it anyone find SJB relaxed fit jeans store let me know. I think those are now 4.97.I cannot search for them at my store.
Sorry on the waking up early - hope you adjust quickly!!!! Hope the shopping goes well!!! I need some tips from you on GS & pricing to be sure!!! YEAH on the PJ! Thanks for the heads up on the Penney's --- must go and look! I will look for SJB what is it?

Quote from bblueskye :
I just finished one of those little cups, and the Berry Voluntary is some freakin' good ice cream!!! Well, diet coke, to be exact!
Well - I think I will take your recommendation - I certainly like your drink of choice Smilie LOL Does the Berry Voluntary have chunks of berries in it? Is it really sweet?

Quote from thismom4deals :
This (ice cubes) is what I do with all of our strawberries that we can't/aren't going to be able to eat fresh. I then take one or two and thaw them and mix them in plain yogurt for my DD. She has eaten it this way since she was 9 mos. old or so. Much cheaper alternative to 'baby' yogurt. I don't like that most of the kid's yogurts, and reg. yogurts for that matter, either have a lot of added sugar or are artificially sweetened. I suppose I could try mixing it in the whole carton of plain yogurt but I don't know if that would make it go bad faster or not??

We also do tons of freezer jam with strawberries. Super easy and the recipe we use comes out a bit thinner which we are fine with - we use it on waffles/pancakes/etc. tooSmilie
May i have your recipe? I would like to try that --- I wonder if one could freeze the strawberries WITH the yogurt and make homemade yogurt popsicles without all the sugar and dye .... hmmm now thinking.

Quote from flugette :
Chocolate chip pancakes have been requested.
Ok - do you make good pancakes? I can cook LOTS of things and I love to cook/bake --- but my pancakes are ALWAYS an unmitigated disaster ... they are either TOO lumpy or TOO chewy or TOO thin/runny-ish ... or whatever they are GROSS!!! So I get Eggo pancakes LOL and this last time I got the choc chip because 2 of my kiddos LOVE them! Do you use eggo or make from scratch?

Quote from ank220 :
I hate the artificial sweetners. And I hate that the kids yogurts have all the colorings and stuff in them. blech

DH forgot the chips but brought me home a burrito. I don't know what they did to it cuz it is SPICY. Methinks the heartburn will be steady tonight.

My lil Miss M will only eat Trix yogurt ... which I think is 90% sugar 9% dye and 1% yogurt! Frown But she really likes them and I have tried a myriad of others! Miss G will eat Trix yogurt or fruit filled Yoplait/Dannon ... but sparingly and will NOT touch plain or vanilla. My oldest son only likes plain yogurt, vanilla yogurt, or the savory yogurt sauces. My other kids won't eat yogurt EVER! LOL They are all so different ...

Ummmmm - does DH not know that a burrito is VERY different from chips? LOL I am sorry about your HB I hope that it does not keep you up all night!!!!! HUGS HUGS HUGS HUGS

Dia, the blueberries will be smushy once they are thawed...still great for smoothies and baking though!

ETA: Just read back and saw you were talking about strawberries. Same there. Smushy but yummy.

It's Thriday Whee

I overslept by an hour and had to do the mad dash to get to work, so I'm just now having coffee and trying to wake up. I feel discombobulated Huh

Love that word. Big Grin Here's hoping the coffee does its work in a HURRY!! hug

Dia, I make pancakes from scratch. Well, when I started getting the Hungry Jack mixes, I was using them, since I had them, but hubby protested. laugh out loud So I've reverted back to scratch. And I just found a recipe online for chocolate chocolate chip panckes, sounds yummy, so I'm gonna try it out. Will let you know how it turns out!!

The Dora yogurts are VERY similar and have no dyes in them and less sugar....I think they gear the Trix to the older kids and the Dora to the toddlers so they made it a smidge healthier.

So had a great time at T yesterday then decided since I saved so uch $$ that I would take all 5 kids to see Twilight Saga Eclipse then we came home and had breakfast for dinner and I totally broke out in hives...all over! and I am still itchy this morning.

The texture is softer than fresh, but if you make sure to pat them dry before freezing, they are usually not super mushy - not quite like the ones you buy at the store. You could add sugar if you want, and they'll make a bit of a syrup as they defrost, but you don't have to. I never do because I do it later if I want/need it. You could experiment a little - get a small container and freeze a couple whole, freeze a few sliced, and freeze some puree - see if you like it.

For the puree, I don't add sugar there either - and I do it in the blender or food processor. It's not quite as watery as rhubarb and not as thick as jam. Maybe more like a thick syrup consistency?

For pancakes, you can pull out a couple cubes, heat in a cup in the microwave and it's an instant syrup - add honey or sugar if you like. You can add the puree (or slices) to the pancake or waffle mix also.

And one of the biggest tips on pancakes is to not over-stir. Usually a good 10-15 stirs around the bowl makes 'em perfect - don't worry if there's still some dry bits or lumps - that should pretty much bake out. I've also found it helpful to let it sit for a couple minutes before cooking. Seems to make them a little fluffier. I've made this recipe [allrecipes.com] with good success for a general pancake.

Right now, there's a great banana pancake recipe on this blog [blogspot.com] - and some other great pancake (and various) recipes. Here's a pancake recipe that uses leftover oatmeal [blogspot.com] - YUMMMYYYYY!! I can personally recommend almost every recipe in this blog - we've made most or been the beneficiary of a shared meal of most of the things on this blog.

Man... now I need to do some cooking...

Where was I??? *laugh*

Frozen fruit - oh yes.... do it! Cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes - these are my kids' favorite treats when frozen. I like them when frozen, but the texture is funny to me when they start to thaw (for the grapes especially). But my kids love it as a frozen treat. Watermelon does get watery as it thaws - but these things are good if used in smoothies or eaten when still frozen. Peaches and nectarines are good too. I haven't tried kiwi or plums yet. Banana's are great frozen (if you freeze them with the peel on, it will turn a dark brown/black - but it's still yummy inside), but they do get very mushy when defrosting (which is great if you want to make banana bread with them and don't want to mash 'em - just defrost and squeeze out of the peel!) MMM... now I"m thinking about frozen bananas... you could cut 'em in half, slip a popsicle stick in, freeze, then take out and unpeel for a nifty frozen treat (made even better if dipped in some melted chocolate and sprinkles/nuts...)

Okay - this whole food thing is a bad topic for a pregnant lady...

And the frozen yogurt pops - a DEFINITE must try. They aren't as "smooth" as the ones you buy at the store, but my kids adore them anyways. If you have the yogurt cups, stick a popsicle stick through the foil and freeze - tada... Or, if you have popsicle makers - use those. You could also try making your own plain yogurt and then flavoring it for each kid. There's lots of good recipes online - there's a crockpot one that's easy to use/make. For your little trix lover, you could add Kool-aid packets and some honey (probably not exactly better than trix, but maybe cheaper...), for your fruit lover - add the berries/fruits/nuts/granola/honey, and for your plain yogurt lover - it's all ready. I like to use the plain yogurt instead of mayo in tuna fish and for the coating on breaded chicken instead of mayo or egg.

Aw man... strawberry tarts. I could so go for some of those right now. drool

Today would've been a good day to berry pick - it's cool compared to what it's been for the past few weeks! Wish I would've known!

And I don't think hubby realizes that burritos are far different from chips - especially when you are pregnant... but he was trying... *laugh* He did remember to get me extra guacamole and even brought home some cinnamon twists - so I forgave him. laugh out loud

DD woke up early this morning!! UGH!!! Just when I think she'll sleep in - no way. She came into our room and says in a cheerful voice "GOOD MORNING!!!!" Then she turned around and asks, "What time is it?" That had me laughing - she's 2 1/2 and has no real concept of time... Kids.

I'm actually considering putting the teen in charge and going back to bed for a little bit. I took a benadryl and now I'm Faint I tell ya, Im tired of these allergies and the option to either cough your lungs up and pee your pants or take benadryl and sleep half the day.

I'm almost to 33 weeks. I'm so counting it down. *laugh*

Here you go dear - http://www.volunteermatch.org/

Go to this link and make an account. Then you have to select an organization you want more info on. Once you select and email the organization you'll get a confirmation email with a link to the coupon. FYI - every time you express interest in a different organization you get a new email with a different coupon link. I thought by posting the direct link to my tou-pon last night I would save lots of volunteer organizations from receiving random email interest forms from people who are only really interested in free ice cream. Because you know... I'm a giver.

IIRC (b/c I was in a dreamy Cloud9 haze while eating it laugh out loud) it is cheesecake ice cream with berry swirls and some berry chunks in it - yummo!

You volunteered to help us out! Wink2

(the Qs are all individually coded, rumored to be one time use, but you get one for you, and you can give the email of 5 friends (*cough, cough* gmail) and they'll get coupons too)

Thanks I was pretty excited myself. Not often I get good days like that around here. As far as the Q's go I'm stalking Flea-Bay but haven't purchased any yet. Kinda wish the prices would go down considering all the troubles nationwide.

Me Too! :hugs: My mom did live in a neighborhood once where a gentleman would have a "garage sale" every weekend nearly all year long. After a few months it did start to annoy her to constantly have business style traffic & parking issues every weekend, but she never did do anything to report him and he is still doing it to this day, although she has now moved.

My "secret" recipe is to mix the pancake mix 50/50 with Jiffy corn bread. I also cut the liquids just a bit as I'm not fond of thin pancakes. And as was said already barely stir it and then let it rest for a few minutes for the liquids to soak through the rest of the dry ingredients. I also find the first pancake is never very good. The pan seems to need to be "seasoned" by the first pancake. So I only make one small one to start then load the pan up with 2 or 3 on the rest of the batches.

Just in case anyone is interested in volunteering for free ice cream today, they appear to no longer be sending you a link to a free ice cream Q in your email (even though the promo is still up on the site) Annoyed
