I can't find Papa anywhere around here. Maybe I should file a missing persons report?

Hmm... anyone doing a cookout this weekend? DH told me "everyone is coming over" on Monday! *laugh* What to make?? I can get some chicken/burgers to grill - but what about sides? I'm always at a loss for good, easy, picnic-friendly sides. Argh... we also have our church dinner on Sunday. Hmm... need something for that. I think I'll do fried chicken for that though - that should be easy to make and take.

Oooh... maybe I could do cold fried chicken - cook it all up on Saturday and then be done with it. What do you think about having cold chicken? I used to love it as a kid, but I was (am) a weird kid...
sweet-and-sour cucumbers?

2 large cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced
3 green onions, thinly sliced, w/ 3 inches of green tops
2/3 cup rice vinegar
1/3 cup sugar

combine all ingredients; marinate for at least half an hour. with a slotted spoon, serve as a salad or garnish. serves 4.
nutrition per serving: 47 calories, 0.7g protein, 12g carbs, 1.2g fiber, 0.2g fat, 4mg sodium

so easy. i use one english/burpless cucumber, the ones wrapped in plastic so i don't have to peel and looks nicer. i slice pretty thin, but not paper thin. i let it marinate overnite so the water comes out of the cucumbers and the cucumbers get really sour. you can use shredded or thinly sliced carrot instead of scallions to make it colorful. you can probably water down the vinegar if you don't like it so sour. don't use tomato. my neighbor tried that and didn't work. it's great during the summer, esp if you are also eating greasy foods. my friends love it and ask for the recipe all the time.

i know some variations use hot oil or sesame oil to make it spicy or different flavor.

All that talk abt yogurt earlier, I just wanted to share this - We take plain yogurt, thin it a little (make it a smooth consistency) by adding water, then add finely chopped cucumbers, tomato, onions, green pepper..some salt n black ground pepper/ cumin powder..yummo..I lived on this the first 3 months of my pregnancy...

On a T related note...

Has anyone done the pledge stuff for the TGC? I was wondering if you happen to know prices on the duster thing and the blue pack of multi surface wipes. Trying to plan my run tomorrow! Thanks!

I keep meaning to keep up with the story, but it seems the only time I get an update is when I read it here. What happened?

just did a quick run:
$4.64 for the pledge fabric sweeper; pledge spray cleaner 3.99

I decided to really test some waters - bought SB for GC deal and the pledge for GC deal. also threw in some msq lamps and other Off products.. here is where it is weird on my receipt:
the Q for the pledge GC grouped with my pledge cleaning supplies as it should

the Q for the SB GC grouped with Off msqto lamps and clipons. Scratchchin
the 4 scrubbing bubbles items are at the top of the receipt all by themselves ( gave the GC Qs before any other Target Qs and they prompted without a problem)
