I saw that as well. I've only had it less than a week so can't say long term. However one common complaint was ice maker didn't work, mine has worked properly from the start. Interestingly those reviews noted the door flap on the ice maker was broken, but mine doesn't have a door flap, so not sure if they updated the design or what. The fridge also cooled down very fast, like in an hour. I did enable the rapid cool feature initally then turned it off.

Note the installers did not remove the tape it ships with. I noticed there is tape covering the vents in the back of the fridge. Make sure you remove this before plugging it in. I caught it right after they plugged it in but worth noting to the installers.
Fair, but I've been tracking fridges for a while, and I can honestly say just about every major brand has a mix of good and bad reviews, at least for fridges < $2000. The bulk of the complaints I've seen seem to stem around the ice maker, which wouldn't impact your food.

This particular model, from a google search, seems to go for $1300 - $2400 (lowes). So at $700, seems worth giving it a shot. Couple that with Costcos free delivery/install/haul away and seems like a solid deal IMO. I was happy at $999, but $699 I'm thrilled.
$38 oem for 200 gallon filter life on Amazon. Generic doesn't seem much cheaper, $36 or $90 for 3 pack.
Search MIWF8200 on amazon.

Not sure if this is a rebadged LG, but it looks identical to my LG fridge which I've had for 6 years. If so, it's a good pick up. Regardless, Midea makes great AC units and I'd chance it on their fridges for this price.

If it's anything like mine, the only real issue is the ice maker jamming but it's pretty easy to clear when it happens. Water filters are dirt cheap to replace.

The best part with these fridges is when guests think water dispenses from the ice compartment and spray themselves. We treat it like an IQ test for friends and family and it's very entertaining.

With the water filters being an expensive $30 and similar ones for Samsung or LG being about $10, it almost makes this model not worth it. The $300+ price difference goes away when you account for water filters. I change my filter every 3 months. And some reviews say the Midea filters are hard to find. Set up delivery for 4/26, May cancel.

That's fair but as I mentioned before, I've been tracking fridges for about a year and I can't find a single brand that doesn't have a good number of horror stories. I've also read through a bulk of them and at least with Costco, a good chunk of the negative reviews are wrt the delivery/install vs the fridge. This seems to be the case for all appliance reviews on Costco. That said, my delivery was seamless.

I also noticed with this particular model, a few of the negative reviews mention a door flap on the ice maker being broken. Mine doesnt have a door flap on the ice maker. So I don't know if I'm misunderstanding what they are referring to or if the this model has made design revisions to address flaws in earlier models. Those reviews seem to be older so it's possible, but just a guess on my part. Another common negative reviews is filters can't be found or are $80. Again, these are older reviews but they can be easily found today on Amazon for $37 OEM, $35 3rd party, or $90/3 pack 3rd party.

I'm not defending this brand at all. It's the first time I've owned midea products so I cant speak to their longevity. But if you scour Slickdeals for fridges, at least ones under $2000, every single brand has a number of posts saying "this brand sucks" coupled with horror stories. Samsung seems to be the worst offender from what I've seen.

This one, most negative seemed to be around the fact that it's not counter depth, and the ice maker. I hope the ice maker doesn't break but if it does, I'll still be happy at $700, given most comporables are $1500+ and I have the 5y warranty to address it.

It is also huge compared to my previous side by side which was ~22cu ft, and one thing I didn't think I would appreciate but do - the LED lighting. This thing is very bright when you open it as it has lights on the left and right sides vs one at the top of the fridge. So you can really see all the shelves front and back.

The WiFi app controls are a nice perk too. I can adjust settings and do firmware updates, but more importantly if my little one doesn't close the fridge door, I get an alert in addition to the fridge chiming. I also get an alert when it is closed again (only if it was left open for more than a minute, not every time it is opened and closed.)

Perhaps wishful thinking on my part but I am approaching this "glass half full" and hope it does end up being a reliable fridge. I'd hate to be one to post a deal that makes people end up with lemons.

Which Samsung or LG OEM water filter is $10? Or do you mean 3rd party? Filters are readily available on Amazon. OEM and generic.

The $10 filters are 3rd party or "Amazon basics".

Can the removal of the old fridge be staggered? The old one is still working. I have stuff in it. Also, it has frost built up. So it's best to get the new one, move everything, wait a day and then have them remove the old one. Is that doable?

This is really big for a garage imo. They have a 19cu foot midea on sale for $400 which would be better.

This [costco.com] one? I am seeing $849.99

wth... it's already out of stock. It was barely there. I guess you're not supposed to do your due diligence before buying. Just buy now, return later.

Indeed. I ordered and pushed date out as far as I could then researched. Then was happy to see it dropped $300.

They also have this 20.5 cu ft garage ready model at $630. Garage ready is important if your garage falls below ~40f in the colder months. Fridges that aren't garage ready won't cycle the cooling when the garage drops below 40d or so, causing your freezer items to melt.
