LA native here. I've been going to Japan during winter in the last 3 trips lol. I love the snow coming down when you visit a temple like Kiyomuzi Dera. It's a lot better than going to Japan during the humid summer.

It's so true. We was in London in Feb and went to Tokyo in late March thinking it should not be as cold. It was snowing a few days before we arrived and it was in the low 40's but felt like mid 20's in the last few days of March in Tokyo plus raining. The cherry blossoms was pretty though.

BTW, does anyone know how the flight ticket works where if I booked one ticket it is $150 but it became $430 for two? This is with AirAsia for flying from Penang to Tokyo. I don't want to take the chance of booking one at a time and may get stucked.

Good travel dates. It will be on the colder side but, still better than the 100 degree weather of summer or crazy crowds during the spring. I usually go during Oct/Nov. December is a great time to explore all of the hot springs and try all the ramen/odin/udon.
