Compared to the Dell Alienware Aurora Desktop (ACT1250)this system offers a stronger overall package: it has a better CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 9900X vs. Intel Core Ultra 7), double the RAM (32GB 6000mhz vs. 16GB 5200mhz on dell), and twice the SSD storage (2TB vs. 1TB). You also get liquid cooling and better upgrade flexibility compared to Alienware desktop, which is more difficult to modify and reuse case later.
On the other hand, the Dell gives you a higher wattage PSU (1000W vs. 850W) and includes a Platinum-rated PSU versus Gold.
Another plus for this system is the 2-year warranty, which offers longer coverage compared to Dell's standard 1-year.
Overall, you're getting more performance and value with this build. Unless you have 10% coupon for dell and CB. Then dell can be had for around 2k flat.
From what I can tell, this is near the cost of building it yourself (at least when I used pcpartpicker). Also we have no clue what the pricing of these may jump up to over the coming weeks so if you're looking, I'd personally recommend buying.
The other parts are nowhere near $1400 if you shop around

I have the 4080s version from Costco and this is a great pc. Great temps as well. Note that if you upgrade to a 5090 in the future you will need to swap out the psu as well

Probably Alienware for fps/dollar. Especially if you have Dell offers on credit cards etc. The intangibles (longer warranty, less proprietary parts, easier returns) with this deal are not trivial and make this a good buy too. But fundamentally both computers will get within 5% fps, yet this computer is >20% more $. Both are pretty good overall though just depends on what you want. Replacing ram is extremely easy, and you may want to do that eventually with the Alienware. 32gb is 70 bucks.
Why would the Alienware get better FPS? Isn't the Ryzen the better CPU?

gotta love folks willing to pay cash to a seller meeting in a walmart parking lot. lol

Can't bring myself to do it. PC prices are just so outlandish if all you want to do is game.

Between this and the Alienware Desktop, which is better bang for your buck? Considering you can get the Alienware price down to $1800ish

The Alienware is a better deal if you get the 10% off for a new account and use a c b site to effectively make it around $1800 like you mentioned . I picked one up and they've fixed their thermals (I had an old 1080ti 9th gen Intel liquid cooled one that ran terribly). It easily maxes out my 180hz monitor with ultra settings in Cyberpunk using the 1000w fan option. Cool and quiet. Smooth as butter gameplay even with path tracing on at 1440p (I don't have a 4k monitor to test). I ended up buying a second one either for the office or to pull the 5080 for a custom build and resell the chassis.

That being said, MSI makes great computers. I picked up a 14th gen i7 one from woot and put a 5070 in it and it runs great with everything except path tracing.

Just my experience running Cyberpunk, Overwatch, and Marvel Rivels. Cant go wrong with either but price for performance the Alienware wins on this round of deals. As always YMMV.

Wait till near Black Friday and there might be a $200-$300 off coupon. Bought mine with the same MSI build from Costco last year for $2300 ($2600 original price) but with Intel 14900f CPU, RTX 4080 Super, and 64gb memory. Costco started selling my PC build around this time last year and like clockwork, the coupon released right near Thanksgiving.
Wait about a week and MSI will be forced to adjust all MSRP due to tariff. Your best bet is to buy now and hold for 90 days if you are in the market. Or if you have 300 cash back from amex then buy the dell. But either way forget Black Friday... by Black Friday some of us will probably be out of jobs.

For gaming purposes, does PS5 Pro check enough boxes that someone does not need to spend $2k+ on computer? Serious question if PS5 Pro is not enough for casual gamer to take full advantage of graphics or does PC gaming offer even better graphics for same games? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am pretty behind in gaming/graphics cards, I am still at 1650ti Acer Nitro 5 and PS4 when it comes to gaming..

Forget what I said, this is the answer I guess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H0sZcP31-Y can't believe how much better the game looks on PC.

Hmm, I like the fact that this has better specs and isn't as proprietary as the Alienware deal, but I don't know if I can justify the ~$700 price jump for my use case.

Screw you guys. I smashed like and just bought this before the tariffs destroy our economy... I'll be gaming the next few years during this nightmare.
And Elendil was better in every way, just sayin'.

Steam/Epic/GoG/MS-Store keeps your library intact with upgradeability and scaling. Multiplayer game doesn't require a yearly subscription. You're not bound to walled garden. At this point all games come to PC you are better off getting a PC then getting a PS5, the only thing that doesn't show up on PC is Nintendo. But eventually Nintendo is going to have to bring its games to PC, it's just a matter of time.

Near the cost of diy and you get Costco refund policy and warranty.

Dell has z890. The MSI may not have the best board. At least not for the 4080 version that I am returning. Its 700 dollars jump but, if you consider the 104% tariff that kicked in today this will be adjusted to 35K easy. This is like buying on the dip and watch the computer instantly grow in value, but it just means your purchasing power as decreased due to inflation.

Is it for gaming or other work? If you're just gaming, I would not recommend the 265F CPU together with a 5080. If you're the type to get a new pc every 3-5 year and want to save as much as possible, the. Alienware.
