this monitor's Panel Type is VA: https://www.asus.com/us/displays-.../techspec/
It's crazy to me that this info is buried in the tech specs instead of in the main page of the monitor. Whether you like VA or IPS, you need to know which monitor type you're getting. It's like the most important spec. Geez.

Yeaa and they have a weird way of saying it's gsync compatible lol. "Supports adaptive sync with listed cards blablabla"
I game on a desk at 1440p 27 inch. Is going to a 32 inch a drawback? Anyone done the same?
I own a 32" QHD IPS. It's similar PPI as a 24" 1080p, so it's not that bad honestly. Since I mostly use it for single-player gaming & movies, I like the added immersion from the larger screen. Going from a 27" to a 32" wasn't overwhelming at all. Going from a 32" to a 42" was quite an adjustment, on the other hand (currently using a LG C3 Evo 42").
Depending on what you play, as someone else mentioned, take note of the fact that this is a VA panel. It has better contrast than IPS (better for movie watching, especially in a darker room), but likely more ghosting/black smearing (not great for fast paced & darker games).

Anecdotally, I went from a 27in QHD to a 32in QHD, and it was nothing but an improvement to me. Unless you spend your days pixel peeping, the increased screen size is only a benefit.

FWIW I like to check the model numbers against Nvidia's Gsync compatibility list, and this one is not listed. Not that it really means anything, but I will say that I have personally had bad luck with things like Gsync flickering on some panels that aren't listed when trying to monitor shop.
Since this is a VA panel, might be worth mentioning this for any potential buyers to be aware of. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/gefo...ors/specs/

You definitely have to get use to it. I sometimes find it hard getting to my sweet spot when playing fps games. Other than that definitely recommend getting one. It's a great experience for sure.

But doesn't the slightest lit room make the glare from the lights disperse across the whole screen making the colors look washed out?

that's not so much on the type of panel but the source of the lighting (and where it's coming from), the brightness of the lighting, and the anti-glare coating (or lack thereof). if you want to prevent glares, face the monitor away from a direct light source and/or go with a monitor with a very high peak brightness.

There is a slight drawback only if you want to be a fake Esports player.

Same on 27 inch 1440p best setup imo, tried a 4k 32 inch once the screen was huge and my eyes were tired looking at it
