soldering them in is the easy part, centering them really sucks.
Soldering is the easy part?

these controllers can connect via bluetooth, unless you have a specific use situation where you like to have the Xbox wireless communication instead...
There are cases where using bluetooth with these can cause intermittent lag spikes. The dongle, while inconvenient, alleviates that issue.

I've experienced it on two systems. The frustrating part is that it doesn't happen on all games.

I tried both codes on both the green and the red controllers and neither worked.

Better latency, multiple controllers to the same adapter, can use the headphone jack on the controller. They claim that you'll get rumble too, but I think that works fine over Bluetooth now.

It can and will lag every few moments. Even with an AX200/AX201 module and a good antenna, doesn't matter. Bluetooth protocol isn't designed for input like this. The xbox dongle alleviates all of it.

I heard Microsoft Xbox controllers have drifting problems.
Then last time this deal came up I bought one guess what it had serious drifting problems what a waste of money . Afraid to buy again.
I can confirm this, sitting w a red one that has serious stick drift, always making my camera point up!

8bitdo, but the bumpers will be gummy instead of clicky

you can also look at flydigi or ManbaOne

Bumpers won't be a problem thanks. Any complaints of 8bitdo not working as well as an xbox controller would as far as compatibility/detection with games?

you're asking two different questions now. you said xbox-type controller for pc initially, but if you're going to use it on an xbox also your options are more limited. I still think 8bitdo makes one, but the others would no longer be an option.

in that case you have more options if you go wired and very few wireless (razer, asus, hori, hyperx)

I wonder if anyone offers a service to install and calibrate TMR joystick modules in these controllers. I absolutely love these controllers, perfect shape and all, other than the fact I have to replace them once they inevitably start drifting. Not that they are too expensive anyway.

I could also get a Flydigi Vader 4 Pro, which is the same exact shape I believe. I know 8bitdo makes quality stuff as well, but I dislike the shape of their controllers, I think they are meant for small hands.

If you don't mind a wired connection, I've heard good things about the GameSir G7 SE and it's only $40 right now

Do yourself a favor if you're gaming on PC/android/pi/etc and just get an 8bitdo. I'm never going back to Microsoft after I've had so many controllers die or start drifting. You can find models similar in price to this deal but even their new model (Ultimate 2) with hall effect sticks and a bunch of extras that xbox controllers don't have can be found for less than $55.
