I have no idea I have never used warranty on any of the controllers or have I purchased a protection plan. If someone can give insight that'd be great.

I used to work in aircraft warranty so i know a thing or 2 about it. Your warranty is with Microsoft, you need to contact them to have them repair it under manufacturer warranty, you give them the purchase order information like a screenshot of your purchase from amazon. They will give you a shipping label and RMA and all u do is pack the controller nicely and ship it. If you bought the controller from a visa or MasterCard credit card, you will have potentially double warranty. Your manufacturer warranty should be 1 year. Sorry for long essay, habit

I've used the warranty several times on a couple elite controllers. The most recent one, they just sent me back a used controller that smells like an ashtray. Fun

I was able to get the Discover Card $10 off $75 and $10 off by defaulting this card for payments. Bought 2 controllers for $50 ish. It is ymmv though.
