I'd wager 4 of every 5 people reading this have no idea what you're talking about.
Based on the reviews of the 8Bitdo stuff, you trade potential joystick issues for other issues like buttons and wireless stopping working. That said, I've been gaming for almost 30 years now and I've only had two controllers that have gotten drift. One Nintendo joycon, and a launch PS5 controller that has very minor drift

If I have to buy a replacement $40 controller every couple years, then so be it

I can't believe people would buy controllers without hall effect joysticks? I guess this is why MS makes a crap controller. They don't need to make a high quality unit because people will buy them regardless.
What do you suggest?

I'd imagine one of the 8bitdo controllers.

Reminder that Discover is offering 5% cashback on Walmart purchases until the end of September.

I find that XBox controllers make decent emergency gifts... they're multiplatform and generally work, and everyone could use another or spare.

These controllers are rock solid. I have 4 of these and an older XBOX1 remote without the extra button in the center. I have dropped them and used them while eating. The only controller I ever had drift with is an XBOX 360 controller that I had for many years. I was able to fix it by following a Youtube video on cleaning it which involved opening it up and using alcohol to clean it. It was a 5 min process.
This is definitely a good price. Its not the lowest, but probably on the lowest side in a while. PC users, don't forget to update the firmware by plugging it into a PC and connecting it to the XBOX accessories app. These updates should occur automatically if you use it with an XBOX.

It's a couple days from being September. How is a deal from December helpful to anyone? Unless you're trying to say it's still active, which im pretty sure you're not.

Sorry, that was a lot of words just to say what the fark are you going on about?

If you're okay with wired controllers, I'd get the Gamesir G7 SE instead which regularly goes for this price. It's officially licensed by Xbox and has hall effect sticks and extra paddle buttons. I recently bought one to replace my stock controller because it developed drift.

I guess that shows how uninformed the average SlickDeals user is? I don't get your point. Hall Effect isn't that much of a niche thing anymore.

I like and use the MS Controller and the reason they and the other brands don't use hall effect is that it's cheaper to mass-produce.

Hall Effect is the same tech that's entering gaming mechanical keyboards and is basically the usage of magnets. I'm not a super controller enthusiast but the reason people clamor for them is that they are much more durable. (No drifting, etc)

This is a good price but not spectacular, decent if you really want this blue color. In December Lenovo was selling a white one for $35. (I got it for cheaper since I had rewards)
