I find that XBox controllers make decent emergency gifts... they're multiplatform and generally work, and everyone could use another or spare.
This is definitely a good price. Its not the lowest, but probably on the lowest side in a while. PC users, don't forget to update the firmware by plugging it into a PC and connecting it to the XBOX accessories app. These updates should occur automatically if you use it with an XBOX.

I like and use the MS Controller and the reason they and the other brands don't use hall effect is that it's cheaper to mass-produce.
Hall Effect is the same tech that's entering gaming mechanical keyboards and is basically the usage of magnets. I'm not a super controller enthusiast but the reason people clamor for them is that they are much more durable. (No drifting, etc)
This is a good price but not spectacular, decent if you really want this blue color. In December Lenovo was selling a white one for $35. (I got it for cheaper since I had rewards)
