If you are currently on the PayGo plan (also known as Bucket Plan) where you have a set balance of Minutes/Text/Data/DaysRemaining then when activating this device with the included 1 year of unlimited plan, you would select the 'keep my number option' and tracfone will send you a code to your current device to verify ownership then your plans will be combined. While you have the 1 year of unlimited any prior existing PayGo balance will be postponed or put on hold. The only time the PayGo balance will be touched in that year period is if you run through your 24GB of data on the unlimited plan and it will dip into your existing PayGo Data balance.

If you are currently on an existing unlimited talk/text plan then activating the bundled year unlimited plan will forfeit your existing plan.

I don't think it overrides your existing unlimited plan if you move your existing number and plan to this phone. At least that wasn't my experience a few months ago. It extends your existing unlimited plan for a year and adds the 24gb data to any data you already have on your existing unlimited plan.

Yes I agree, this unlimited plan with 24GB extends the already existing unlimited plan by a year.
I added 2 unlimited plans such as this consecutively in matter of a month. Got unlimited talk and text with 48GB valid for 2 years.

My experience is: i have a set number of TTD. Lets say 1500, 1500 and 1.5gb and 1 year service. I added unlimited plan to this existing line, it now shows Unlimited Text and Talk, 25.5gb data, 2 years service end date. Are you guys saying that after 1 year, I will be left with original 1500 TT abd 1.5gb data?

Thanks for adding that data point. That would be the best case scenario. These bundled HSN/QVC unlimited plans have been known to be treated differently by the TF system. The most common example being some users on the PayGo plan have reported it extending unlimited talk/text to the entirety of their accounts service days.

The way combining unlimited plans generally works on TracFone is they give you two options when adding to an existing line:
1. Add the new plan to your reserve, and it kicks in once the existing plan expires, with any remaining data rolling over and being combined with the new plans data at that point.
2. Forfeit your remaining days of unlimited talk/text in order to activate your new plan immediately, any existing data balance is combined with the new plans data.

You usually only see people go for option 2 when they are combining by the month unlimited plans and are willing to give up a few remaining days to replenish their empty data balance. Since the included data with the monthly unlimited plans is cheaper or the same cost as buying the data on its own.

Yes. Your 1500T/T will go untouched for the year, and your 1.5GB will only be touched if you go through your 24GB of included data with the unlimited plan.

You may even find that after the 1 year, your plan remains unlimited talk/text for the remaining year. Which is a reported 'bug' specifically with the bundled HSN/QVC unlimited plans. but that's a YMMV.

Yes we have this situation at home with two kids, and I spent a lot of time looking into it. Specifically, I spent no time on the Android kid, it took a minute to set up data warnings and cutoffs. Then I spent days looking into the cretinous IOS solution, and their is, "hey keep the faucet runnin man!". Or that's the apple dudes answers, the company provides no capability in that manner.

Garbage arrogant (i)OS.

On any device you just need to block things via dns. Adult sites, streaming services, etc. Personally I feel kids shouldn't have phones until they have self control, and understand moderation.

Hmmm so it will be a surprise. I mean if I know upfront that I have one year to use 24gb, I will plan my usage that way. If it is going to last two years, I will be much happier.

Zero chance a kid doesn't burn through the data in the first week. Just part of being a kid with a new 'toy'.
One workaround you maybe able to do, once the device is network unlocked 60 days in, is to download the T-Life app and signup for a 90 day trial eSim from t-mobile. Then in settings set mobile data to use T-mobile eSim.

If you are serious about stretching the included data the pointers I will give is to remove the sim card before powering on the device for the first time. Until you are able to establish a connection to WiFi. These cheap tracfone devices will begin to install about a dozen bloatware apps in the background during device setup the moment a data connection is established. Once you have the device setup insert your Sim Card and activate your service.
1. Settings -> Network & Internet -> Data Saver toggle to ON.
**2. Settings -> Network & Internet -> Mobile Network -> Mobile Data toggle off.
3. Play Store -> Settings (3 dots top right) -> Network preferences -> Auto-update apps. set to 'Update over Wi-Fi only' or 'Don't update apps' the latter will notify when there are updates available but won't download until you tap update in your play store setting.
4. Use google to learn how to disable or uninstall Mobile Services Manager. It is responsible for 99% of the carrier based bloatware. When you wonder how Temu, TikTok, Facebook, CandyCrush, Solitaire, seem to keep magically reappearing installed on your device. Mobile Services Manager is the culprit.

**This is your mobile data killswitch and best resource against having your balance seep away in the background. Advise to only turn on an as needed basis. It only takes your WiFi to drop and go unnoticed one time in the middle of streaming a show for your MOBILE DATA balance to go poof otherwise.

Thanks and Reps for taking the time to write this. Would downloading the Google Map for my frequent area also be a data saver ?

I told them they had to ration their data and use wifi if possible. If they're on the phone 24/7 and they run out, that's on them.

Yes you can safely activate up to 1 year from purchase date. Unlock timer and service date will start once you activate the device.

Just remember if you wait and there's any issues you will be out of options, they only have a 30 day return policy.

With Tracfone you never know, the best case would be getting unlimited talk and text after the first year too ( bug in the system as mentioned by the other poster), Unlimited talk and text would be a nice bonus to have.
About the 24GB data, you will have to see if that carry forwards to your second year, or just goes poof! Bonus if it carries forward that way you can plan your data usage.
With verizons latest evils no one can predict going forward on how the TF usage app will behave.

What does your TF app say? Do you see a left over standby plan?

Unlimited plans are used first then followed by the reserve limited plan.

Wow, that's a lot of services to remember to cancel before auto-enrolled and the monthly payments start. I don't recall having to do that with the Samsung deal they had.
