They haven't changed the design in 40 years. I still have this set that I bought in the late 1980's

When the nut is in a recessed hard to reach place, like motherboard standoffs on a computer case.

You could use extension sockets but the bulk and floppiness makes it awkward, plus inconsistent torque risks stripping the threads.

Not sure I'd ever need SAE though.

Building my tool kit following a theft ☹️. These help that cause. As others mentioned, there is a time and place where these work better than sockets. Thanks OP.

90% of what I use mine for is hose clamps. You can remove or install one with a socket, but it takes way longer. Most of those are 1/4" or 5/16", dont think I've even used any of the other nut drivers I own.

And dealing with sheet metal screws that have a hex head, really any small screw like that

Thanks for pointing this out, good call. I have some inherited from various folks, almost pulled the trigger on this just to have a complete set.

Still great for folks who may not have any at all though.

Certain industries exclusively use hex washer head screws, so nut drivers are a necessity. I already have 2 sets, or I would jump on this.
