You dont have to do this necessarily as the verification code they send when you are purchasing the phone doesnt have to be the phone number you are porting. You can get the verification code on any number then when you port a number over you can use the number barn number for $5

Yes, but nobody sold you something for $125-200 under retailer wholesale cost.
You get what you pay for.
You can buy this phone for more without the requirements.
If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Is the bootloader of this phone locked? I don't want to have the total wireless junk after it unlocks.

iPhones don't have carrier-specific ROMs like Android. They all run the same OEM variant of iOS, with no carrier-specific bloat.

Other than the Iphone 13 itself and the physical sim card, does the shipping box come with 3 months physical prepaid card?

So My friend accidentally activate the phone through Straight Talk website, and it asked to input a credit card or prepaid card pin. On this step, my friend realized the activation should be through Total Wireless website, now Total Wireless does not recognize the new Iphone 13 IMEI #. Is there any other way to fix it?

Total wireless customer service said the phone is now register with Straight talk, but 3 months service is not with straight talk. lol

Wow, what a world we live in....where we need to verify our identity to a third party (who resells our ID info) just to buy something.

Back in my day, we only needed money to buy something.

You still can buy with money without verifying ID at a different price. That option is available. If there wasn't that option then I see the point, otherwise, it's just complaining over nothing.

If I activate the iphone/service, and then move the sim to a different device, will the iphone unlock after 60 days?
or the sim needs to stay in the same iphone for the entire 60 days?

I would not feel comfortable getting this deal just to get the phone. They changed unlock policy retroactively requiring 60 days of service and there is nothing stopping them from changing it again as it pleases them. It is a risk I am not willing to take but you might if you are ok with locked phone in the worst case scenario for this price. The good ole days are gone.

It got it in store today (4/30) for $170 total; in addition to the $160 plan fee, I had a charge of $5 for the sim card, but given I wasn't charged tax or activation fee or setup fee, etc... I didn't care.

That's a good deal for in-store. I was quoted $280 at the store . Frown
