A. After day 61'ish, which leads to (B). Cancel after your phone is unlocked.
B. About day 61 it should be unlocked .
C. Easily using pSim or esim.
Thanks for direction but I'm a little unclear: do I need to make sure the phone is unlocked before terminating the account?:
A.) So I don't need to do anything on my end to unlock it? I need not make any unlock request or anything and it automatically unlocks on day 61'ish? How do I confirm that it's unlocked?
B.) I purchased the iPhone with the 3 month plan which ends in a few days. My renewal date/payment date for the next month is Sept.1st. (i.e. paying for month #4). If I don't make that payment (and I don't intend to) does my account terminate .. potentially w/o the phone being unlocked, and I'm screwed : o ?

If it unlocked automatically it will say so under Settings/General/About/Carrier Lock

You can trigger an attempt to unlock by placing an non-Verizon SIM Card into the physical SIM slot. This signals the carrier and Apple to check your permissions to unlock. Some folks have to reboot their phones. I wish I could tell you it's always the same but that has not been my experience.

Make sure auto pay is off so there are no unexpected charges to argue about. Prepaid means no surprise final bills created/sent.

Take these actions NOW so that TW can give you support if the unlock does not happen without intervention by a human being in customer support.

Once unlocked you will stay unlocked forever - no need to pay a renewal if you don't need more service. You cannot get your port out information if the line is "suspended." They give you a few weeks to renew prepaid service and after that the phone number is lost - goes into their pool of available numbers.

Some folks close the account by porting their number to another carrier or to Number Barn - a port out automatically closes most cell phone plans/accounts.

I can use any years-old SIM card (non-Verizon?).

Should I wait until Sept.1st to do this when my next payment is due (I assume that's the date it's scheduled to be able to be unlocked) or do it prior to Sept. 1st?

If I don't care to save the number used with Total Wireless, do I even need to do anything after the phone is unlocked? In other words since I'm no longer using or making payments to TW can I just ignore it until they eventually close the account down?

Or does Total Wireless need to participate in some manner when transferring the unlocked iPhone over to Visible?

If your payment is due Sept. 1, then your phone should have unlocked several weeks ago. The unlock is 60 days after activation (not 90). Restart the phone and check settings to see if it shows: No SIM restrictions. If it still shows SIM locked, you can insert any SIM from any other carrier to trigger it. If you don't care about the number and you have confirmed that autopay is off, you do not have to do anything else to close the account.

I ported the GV# and activated the phone last weekend and have been using the phone for the last few days without any issue, but when I login to my TotalWireless account today, I see the banner - "Please make sure to complete any pending activation in your account to begin or restart service."

And under my plan, I also see this banner - "Your plan has been changed to: Total 5G Unlimited Your new plan and charges will start on your next renewal date: 11/24/2025"

Are these just generic banners or did I mis a step when activating my eSIM, TIA but I'm completely new to TotalWireless.

GV should send an email saying your number has ported away (after a few days once the port is fully complete)

GV account will be blank -- go ahead and use your old GV number which is now a VZ number to generate a new GV number for free so you have another GV number to use for a future promo

You paid for a 3mo promo plan upfront with the device -- after the 3mo they're changing you over to the regular monthly plan so that message is standard (they're not going to charge you for another 3mo plan)

Thanks! I checked and the phone is already unlocked.

My phone shows No SIM restrictions so it's already unlocked. Duh, the 90-day plan obscured the fact that the phone unlocks at 60.

If I wish to retain the number and port it out to NumberBarn to park it, do I need to do that prior to, a.) activating the iPhone on Visible and/or b.) terminating my Total Wireless account?

If you want to keep the number, you need to port out while your line is still active, so I would do that today. Porting out will terminate the line within Total Wireless, but your account will remain active. I would check if there is a credit card on file and delete that before starting the port. I think the timing of activating on Visible is irrelevant to your port, especially if you use an e-sim.

Total wont let me delete my CC info. I'll take your advice and port out to my number today; will likely use the physical SIM card to activate the iPhone on Visible.

I see those same banner messages. Not to worry. The one that says you still need to activate is a by-product of them mapping the pSIM to the IMEI of the device prior to shipment. Since you activated via eSIM there is a residue in their activation module for the time-being. You should have seen how many banners appeared when I first ported in four lines from Tmo and started moving numbers from phone to phone. The way they access and monitor their work under the Tracfone activation system leaves a lot to be desired.

Let us know what they say
Apple store initially thought the phone had already been repaired with an aftermarket screen, but quickly dropped that theory when I showed them that I just opened the box and that the phone had never been activated. They replaced the screen which took about two hours, and then I just had to call Total to have them move my eSIM back over. It was a hassle and honestly I'm a bit disappointed having to get a brand new phone repaired straight out of the box...I think I would have preferred that Total replace the phone for me, but they refused to do that. They didn't give me any trouble with the eSIM transfers though, so I'm happy about that.

Yes - I used them and things "worked." I could not place an order using the NB number because it was not receiving the TW text messages. I read their warranty disclaimer saying it was my responsibility to verify the eligibility of the number purchased on their site so I entered the number in my cart into a phone number checker to see it was hosted by a VOIP company and would be considered a "land line" during port in to Total.

I would have disputed with my cc if that happened to me.
