If they did not require this some folks would buy dozens to resell (which I have no exact issue with other than it make such a deal impossible to offer)
Decide for yourself.
It's really no different from walking into T-mobile and signing a contract to get a 'free' or subsidized iphone. They take your id there.

Depend on how you interpret it, there is no requirement for phone has to active consecutive 60 days, if so it would have state in the unlock policy. it just requires 60 days active plan as previous deal people buy one months plan then stop paying for second month and just wait for the phone to unlock. They gain nothing by forcing you to keep the sim card with the phone. you are already pay for 3 months plan.
I wouldn't take the SIM card out and put to another phone either. TW customer services is inexperienced so worst case it's definitely will requires you to escalate to manager and argue over the unlock policy with them.

Thank you very much for the post. For me it went $45 --> $60 --> $90. I waited for it to go above $100. But it went down to $72
There are some potential downsides with this strategy. Some folks lose the rewards before they can claim them. In my case, I waited long enough to "earn" the reward but as I went to claim them into a gift card the selection of choices became less and less useful over time - when I signed up getting a Walmart card would have been a no-brainer. No longer a choice. My wife made her second choice of Barnes and Noble - I went back - that was eliminated as a choice in between visits.
