I asked an AI the same question about using high mileage oil and got a conflicting answer. "Using high mileage oil in a new car is not recommended as it may not be beneficial and could be expensive, but it will not necessarily cause harm.
However, in high mileage vehicles, a sudden change to high mileage oil could overload the engine and cause more harm than good if not done gradually.
Additionally, some users report that high mileage oil can soften seals over time, potentially leading to leaks and other issues."

my understanding is that high mileage oil contains an additive that makes the rubber components swell which results in fewer leaks. An engine that does not leak does not need this. But it is not harmful and effects will disappear if switched to regular oil.

If the oils meet API then they pass the seals testing which means they don't swell or shrink the seals - basically neutral. HM oil should never harm a car but no need in newer vehicles. Switching back and forth will not hurt you car either. However seal swell additives like those sold in booster bottles could soften them enough to blow out but those are not used in HM oils.

10W30 brings up the high mileage version, which not every car, including high mileage ones, needs. If the seals are in good shape and there's not significant piston or ring wear, you don't need it, and it could actually harm the seals if so. Also, Walmart's full synth Supertech house brand is under $19 per 5 gal bottle.
Recently saw Supertech 0w-16 variant and got excited. Supertech's been solid for me on all my vehicles (Toyotas/Hondas).

Can i store these at home for future use? Does oil goes bad in bottle?

Yes, it does go "bad" eventually. But like so many things: it depends.

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/does-oil-go-bad-after-time.379209/ [bobistheoilguy.com]

Great video from Lake Speed ("The Motor Oil Geek") in the first post on that thread. He tests oils of various ages, shaken and unshaken (as additives and other components can fall out of suspension).

"This question has come up several times that I can recall. Mobil, I believe, has said that oil more than five years old should not be used. Some folks here believe otherwise, and that older oil is fine, and have used old oil."

From another comment on that thread:
TL;DR - yes it goes bad. The 5 year mark is typically taken from the FAA shelf life for aircraft lubricants. Most of it depends a lot on storage conditions. Yes, certain things like greases will go bad first.

We've found oil over 60 years old in our warehouse. No; it was not good. Additives separated out.

Oil will last a long time. The performance degradation isn't linear either.

Newer oils with solubility issues (like the ULV transmission products) will have a much shorter shelf life than older more "conventional" products.

If you include $4 "Walmart Cash", Mobil 1 ESP is cheaper and a MUCH better oil (than their "regular" 5W-30 and 0W-30). Their 0W-40 is of course excellent as well. Arguably on par with the ESP.

ESP 0/5W-20, 0/5W-30, and their 0W-40 meet Porsche C20, C30, and A40 respectively. I don't drive a Porsche, but I put ESP in a 2011 GS 350 with a 2GR-FSE. At ~125,000 miles I have zero oil consumption (acquired it with 47,749 miles).

5Qt Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 $28 - $4 "Walmart Cash" --> $24.

The 1Qt gets -$1.50 "Walmart Cash".

Thanks OP. Got the cash back and an additional 5% off using Capital One rewards offer. Been waiting for a decent deal on these.

How do we redeem the cash back if not a W+ member?
doesnt matter, a regular W account is able to apply the cash when in checkout screen

I am surprised to see that somebody besides me is figuring this out.
I've been trying to keep it a secret, but if someone is bringing this to light, then let it burn!
Every time there's an oil promotion, they exclude the ESP oil because it's literally more expensive and of higher quality.
I don't know if there's a maximum limit for getting Walmart Cash on a single product, but if there is, and if you want to stock up on as much ESP oil as you can, you can also buy the 5W30, it's the same price. Use the 5W30 in summer and save the 0W30 for winter!

LMAOLMAO Sorry! Big Grin

Yeah it was the first thing I checked. And of course the ESP isn't included in the promo, because like you said they tend to exclude it. I still buy it anyway because even the regular price is only $28/5Qt. They just so happen to have $1.50 and $4.00 "Walmart cash" for the 1Qt and 5Qt respectively right now, so it's an even better deal than the other stuff which is "on sale". Kind of funny. I'm going to load up on at least one oil change. I used to pile up 15-20Qts, but came around to finding that a bit absurd. If it was HALF PRICE then OK sure. But for a few $$? I'd rather have less clutter in the f*ckin' garage.

If you're interested (or curious), Castrol 5W-30 C3 can be had for a decent price on Amazon sometimes (I use Camel³ to track the price and get alerted). Last time I ordered it, I bought 2x5Qt for $61.90 (November 2023). Doesn't meet Porsche C30, but it's Dexos Gen 2 and meets MB 229.31/ 229.51 and VW 505 00/ 505 01. Currently "unavailable".

Amazon does currently have Castrol Edge Euro 5W-30 K. Meets Porsche C30! But right now (at least Shipped & Sold by Amazon), it's either $55 for 6x1qt or $82 for 3x5Qt ($27.33/5Qt is NOT bad). That's basically 2x oil changes in my case, plus a spare quart.

I also bought some Valvoline "European Vehicle" XL-III 5W-30 in May of last year. $53.90 all-in for 2x5Qt. I really need to use that NEXT, since it's almost a year old. Meets Porsche C30 and a number of MB, VW, and BMW specs. Also generally considered to be a really good oil!

A2, I accidentally link the incorrect video original. Even though the Additives one is a good, it was supposed to be the one from LSJ about the Old SN & New SP M1 Euro 0w40.
Here is that link: Oil Problem? When You Shouldn't Use MOBIL1 0W-40!

He also has a good one on: EXPIRED: When Does New Oil Go Bad? [youtu.be]

In people's actual usage. What would be better this or Penzzoil Platinum? I've always used Penzzoil, but willing to change.
I use whichever of the two is cheaper. From time to time, I've also used synthetic super tech from WM. My car is closing in on 320k miles. I think any quality synthetic oil and filter is probably fine so long as long as you follow the manufacturer's specifications.

And Costco currently has (2) quarts of 5 gallon jugs for $30 (or $15) each. Oil analysis shows it is just as good as any other name brand oil.

Carlos, check out Lake Speed Jr's (The Motor Oli Geek) Part 1 video comparing Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40 to four different Mobil 1 0w40 oils:
