I've cut way more than 5/8"with these haha... Pretty tough.

You sharpen them by lightly running a file over the curved edge of the cutting part

I damaged mine probably my fault and they sent me a new pair. These are great for smaller branch pruning. It takes a lot of hand strength to cut a 5/8" branch they claim it can do. I say this is for smaller branches less than 1/2" from my experience. Use a lopper for the larger ones not these hand shears.

Does anyone know if this is spring loaded? It doesn't appear so from the pictures.
Edit: Never mind. It is spring loaded… from on customers videos.

Beginner gardener here. I'm currently using Dollar Tree pruners. Yes, $1.25 shears. Do these Fiskars offer any real advantage if the thickest plant I'm cutting is a 4' rose bush?

I'm 12 months into waiting for my 6 month reply on a broken fiskar's weed puller. Their warranty is as worthless as their weed puller.

Get a quality vintage pair of American, EU, Japan made shears off of ebay for probably about the same, enjoy them for life.

I prefer the torque increasing geared or ratchet pruners. You don't see those like you used to. A cheap'o ratchet pruner from dollar store would cut thru most anything.

does anyone know if there is a better version of this... a 1 hand pruning shear that officially cuts more than 5/8"? (i know you can try to use the one in OP to cut something more than 5/8 but its not officially part of the spec).

I own these and cutting a 5/8" branch with these would require a lot of hand strength.

Try opening another case, I've had to replace mine twice and the longest it took to hear back from them was a few days

Have had a pair of these for 12 years. You will never need to test the warranty.
I rarely use them though. I find the telescoping loppers more useful.

Look into Fiskars' "PowerGear" pruners or hybrid pruner-loppers. Corona also makes a hand pruner rated for 1.25" (no experience with those).

I got this a month ago and they are great. I got several of their two handed versions they are great. A pair I just got suck. They spread and don't want to cut cleanly unlike the other pair I got or long handled versions or the greenworks highrated shears on amazon. I was surprised these new fiskars were so awful. The other pair that's good might have been called pro titanium or something. I can't find order model number
