Question, does anyone know if you can disable the phone home feature TP-Link has on their systems? I currently run a nighthawk setup and in the settings it has the option to turn outside connections off. But with the TP-Link mesh setup I used to use it does not. And from my understanding their previous statement about this was they will not add that into their software for endusers.. claiming there is no need for it. Of course that was a couple years ago. I didn't know if they added it in or not. Thx

It means you can run ethernet cables to the nodes from the node connected to the modem. This sends signal both wirelessly and wired to your nodes to maximize signal stability/strength. Completely optional feature.

Got one from Amazon(x15 3 pack) for $114, still unopened but it has black tops vs walmart (w4500)white tops. I guess it's the same?

edit. now I see bjs has the x25 3 pack for $99. so many models it's crazy .

Not even wifi 6E ughhhh. Plus it's another lowdown shady chinese company full of firmware vulnerabilities that Tplink conviently has not bothered to update.

Can't agree more, yes it's on sale everywhere but not a good future-proof platform to build your home wireless system, even Asus is better with the updates/patches/stability.

I have the X5000 three pack from Costco. It's also WiFi 6. We pay for 80 Mbps download speed, and we get that much with this system consistently. I also game using a service called GeForce Now which requires flawless internet since it uses cloud computers to do the processing, you're only sending inputs from your mouse and keyboard and receiving video and audio. Because of this you need no packet loss, low latency, and a consistent download speed. I had to set a speed limit on my mom's Apple TV for some reason (not sure if it was that thing's fault or the Decos), but after doing that my connection is 95% flawless. Most people aren't doing cloud gaming or anything like that. My point is WiFi 6 and this system is good enough for the average consumer doing Zoom meetings and streaming videos.
