According to an Amazon comment... As most might be curious to what the difference with this J6+ and a J7+ is, I spoke with iRobot customer service and this is what was said. The J7+ can detect up to 40 items including pet waste and power cords. The J6+ can detect only two items, pet waste and power cords.

So basically it's software , thanks... I like the cord recognition but not sure I need anything else just wondering if the overall cord recognition would be worse then the j7+ as it's real good on that w/ latest f/ware.. The brand new just released 105 has lidar, etc and clean base for only $299 but not sure it can do any type of recognition w/ lidar but the lidar is years ahead of the Vslam system the previous gens use...
lidar navigation is far superior to camera based, yes. however, the two roller patent allowed Roomba to be far less susceptible to hair tangles.
Speaking from experience, my J7+ would get so much buildup at the ends of the rollers that I could hear an audible difference in the motor. While I do think the vacuum did a little (slightly) better job than my Roborock, I won't buy another Roomba product due to all the software / app issues. My J7+ collects dust at this point.

Amazon also sells this unit as open box in "like new" condition for $189. I went with that option. ✌️

I've bought many open box items from Amazon. Only a couple issues which necessitated very easy returns.
I wouldn't touch this if you have pet hair. I've had the worst experience with this even after trying remedies by customer care. It just aggregates the pet hair and dumps it in spots on my carpet. Maybe 10% of it gets sucked into the vacuum.
My rooms have floors slightly up and down from each other, so there is a ~1-1.5" little ramp trim piece at the threshold. I've had roborock q5pro and wyze both have difficulty, getting stuck often. can anyone recommend a model that handles uneven floors better?
I got rid of my Roborock S4 which is a pretty bare bones vacuum for the J7+ and I regret it.
Firstly, the poop detection SUCKS. My Roombas have run over poop 3 times. What they don't tell you is that once you use their poop guarantee, the replacement only comes with something like 30-90 days of that same guarantee.
So I got mine replaced the first time and the brand new unit they sent me didn't work from day 1. It would just spin in circles and go nowhere. Instead of sending me another replacement, I had to send this brand new vacuum that wasn't even 24 hours out of the box in for repair. That took about 2 weeks.
As far as performance goes, I miss my roborock. I noticed no appreciable difference with the roomba but have run into so many more issues. Every few months my vacuum will just decide it can't vacuum about half my family room and stop cleaning there. The only way I've been able to fix it is to reset the entire vacuum and then remap my entire house which is a HUGE pain. The battery life sucks compared to roborock. It takes the vacuum 1h 8m to vacuum my first floor. It can't even make it through the entire floor without having to stop and charge.

Take my advice and stay far, far away from Roomba
