Be aware that the included batteries are 1.3Ah each. Normally, they are 2.0 Ah each.

I think you are confusing them with Rotary Hammer but you'd still be dead wrong:

That's a DeWALT DCH133 SDS Plus rotary hammer, though most people incorrectly call them hammer drills. My actual hammer drill is a DCD998 PowerDetect and even that has been superseded but the new DCD1007. Both easily outperform their corded counterparts with the right high-current battery.

The better Craftsman power tools are badge-engineered/rebadged DeWALTs these days. If this were Craftsman's R+P Brushless hammer drill I'd grab one for my friend.

My guess is you are just behind the times on how powerful battery tools have become. Unless you want to go to air, there isn't much benefit to corded tools these days usually.

If you have any other craftsman v20 batteries you're better off with the craftsman brushless RP drill only that's also on sale.

Yep! I have a Craftsman Bolt-on drill, with a hammer drill attachment, and it worked just fine for what I have used it for. I've had it for several years. The worst part about it is that that it shakes the bit loose. If I keep my left hand loosely on the chuck,(w/ a glove) it will work OK. I just wouldn't want to use it all day long that way.

Seems like a fair price for what you get, and it is on sale, but they don't show that. Normally, Amazon splashes around an exaggerated list price, but not in this case. According to Camels the previous sale price was $89, so it has come down quite a bit.

Can i use this mainly as a normal drill and then for hammering/masonry when needed?> or is this not well suited for wood studs, screws, etc that you would use a normal drill for?

Yes you can use it like that.
But if you're not already locked into the Craftsman battery eco-system, I wouldn't start now.
