Reviews show the 2K version isn't any better than the 1080p version (some say worse) in image quality. Some think it's due to the h264 compression being used that negates the higher resolution.

I like TP Link Kasa Software. I pay $3 a month for cloud storage. I don't care if it's not entirely private since they're used outside.

Obvious to those already in the ecosystem
But FYI indoor only (or at least well sheltered outdoor)

I don't understand why they do this, is it a software limit? A hardware limit due to it being wireless? I feel like the price is low, but after about 20 ft, you aren't seeing any plates or faces very well. (I have 5 tapo outdoor, wired & battery 2k cameras)

One thing they do well is the app on android. It works well & I was surprised to see it had a rating of 4.6+ stars. Competitors like reolink have only 2.7 stars! Eufy seems ok at 3.9. Ring & google Home are at 4.1

Does this one have the starlight sensor that's present on the outdoor ones?
EDIT: specs on their official website state:
Image Sensor: 1/2.8'' Progressive Scan CMOS Not Starlight Sensor

Bummer, thought it did. Anyone have a Wyze v3 for comparison of night vision?

I like mine. But when I have auto follow motion, it detects air dust/flakez or shadows from trees. It's kind of spooky to see it action detecting very small things.

I picked up a 2-pack of the pan/tilt Tapos after my Samsung cams became obsolete (few months ago). They're listed as indoor use, but I use one indoors, and one outdoors. The outdoor one is under the eaves of my house, looking out into my driveway and the road out front, it never gets wet and has been working just fine for several months now. Overall I'm satisfied with the performance of these cameras, but I don't think the resolution is as crisp as the Samsung cams they replaced. I don't subscribe to the cloud, I just throw an sd card in each camera. They record until full, and then start overwriting the oldest files, and so on. Thinking of picking up a couple more to use outdoors.

have some of these for baby cams, they work great. The audio and motion sensor on it works really well.

Their website is having a sale on most others adding more savings for the more you buy. Oddly, the 2 pack is cheaper on amazon.https://us.store.tp-link.com/page...prilshower

I get that, but these are indoor cameras, I definitely wouldn't trust these outdoors in freezing temps

To be fair though, this is an indoor camera, so unless you have a road through your house...😂

FWIW I've had a v2 Wyze cam and a Eufy indoor cam both mounted outdoors since 2020. Both still going strong.

Well, what's your climate? Indoor cams def wouldn't last outdoors where I live.
