500 Error

5 April 12, 2025 at 12:02 PM
Does anyone know how to fix this 500 error page that keeps coming up when loading a deal? I can browse most of the site normally, however, whenever I try loading a deal page, it briefly shows the loaded page before popping up a 500 error page over it. If there is a "Get deal on " button, if I'm fast enough I can click that and get that page to spawn in a new tab before the error page comes up.

This behavior happens on Firefox, Chrome and Edge. This behavior does not occur on Opera. Haven't tried on any other browsers.

Any help would be appreciated.

A 500 error aka Internal Server Error could be caused by lots of different things. Most often it's caused by issues on the server you're trying to connect to. But, in this instance I'm not sure it's a widespread issue affecting all users of the site. There's actually a special forum for issues with the slickdeals website: https://slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5

I do see some reports of issues with the app on the site issues forum, but you're using a browser.

Since it's following you across browsers it's unlikely to be a cookie problem, though sometimes deleting cookies for a site can help with this type of problem. I would look at browser addons / extensions you're using or possibly antivirus / firewall software. You could also try rebooting your modem and router hoping for a new ip in the event some cloud provider like cloudflare has flagged your ip.

In opera, are you using the VPN? Does it have different extensions installed? Try an incognito or private window in some of the other browsers, assuming you haven't given extensions permission to run in private windows.

Have you tried a different computer or browser on your cell phone?

Hi jkee,

Yeah, it's just weird that the page pops up immediately after the original page loads fine. I have tried both running the browser(s) with all extensions disabled and with antivirus also disabled. Deleting cookies does not help. Browser on my cellphone seems to work on Firefox. I assume that since it's on a cellphone, whatever engines Firefox, etc. run on are different from the PC versions. slickdeals app on the phone works.

Opera VPN is disabled. Which probably means it's not cloudflare blocking my IP since Opera is able to load the page successfully both normally or in a private window. No extensions have permissions in private mode. I can also load other sites with cloudflare or other capchas just fine as well. I just loaded Brave browser and it also loads successfully with "Shields" up or down and since I don't have a premium account on that, there is no VPN.

I actually tried the opposite, and running through a VPN and getting an alternative IP address doesn't help.
