+1, I've been stalking these for awhile since the price dropped. All of the open box keep turning over and have 2023 serial numbers. I think its highly likely they're opening NOS boxes and finding them all with cracks.

Where are you getting this info? Are you talking finish cracks? That's pretty common with finished mahogany but I've never heard of it on the maple cap though.

Gibson finishes the guitar after the nut is installed. So there is lacquer over the ends of the nut. The Nut is only glued on a couple spots (it is meant to be replaceable and not permanently attached). So, if the nut is hit, if the wood or if the lacquer shrinks, it will form a crack at the nut edges. It's not an issue. If the nut has to be replaced at any point, the luthier will cut/score around the nut to keep the lacquer from chipping when the nut is tapped out.

Just be aware that these have a vintage 50's neck profile. That's a very large chunky neck. If you have smaller hands, or you're used to a smaller neck profile, this neck is going to feel very large.

depending on what you play it can be a good thing. I have a 50's tribute studio and I love the fat neck for playing rhythm and power chords. If you are a shredder its not going to be for you.

Agreed. I spent some time at a local Guitar Center playing on the 50s and 60s when the previous FP deal for a Cardinal Red LP Standard was available. Large hands (I'm 6'6") and playing style definitely gave the edge to the 50s neck for me. I didn't bite on the Cardinal but am tempted here... buying online vs. playing in person still gives me pause since individual guitars can vary quite a bit within a specific model. I've heard LPs can vary quite a bit in their individual personalities, but haven't played enough of them to know if this is actually the case.

Great deal. They restocked the open box 60s Standard model this morning and was able to snag one for $1759. Great deal. I already own a 50s otherwise I would have gotten one.

I've bought a few guitars from Sweetwater and never had an issue. One was an LPJ it played and sounded great but had some weird static sound when not touching the strings, like a ground issue. I ended up returning it and picking another guitar. Very easy process, the new one had no issues
