Its honestly insanely useful to have a couple of USB A & C ports right there, especially if your computer isn't on your desk. If i quickly need to plug in a random device or want to dump something from an SD card, I don't need to get up to do it. Takes up no space, one wire to route, etc. Even has an HDMI port which has come in handy a few times troubleshooting and the like.

Edit: Not only does the Orico web site not list amperage, but their high res photos actually have the adjustable screw blocking the text that reads it on the device!

That's what BC 1.2 is for. And most hubs do in specs.
Heck, this one does too. Orico just stupidly covered it in the photos with the tightening screw.
Many devices now need more than 500 mA of power while transferring data.
No, it's not a charger. That makes it more important.
