Hybrid is the future of water heaters. It takes the heat out of the room to heat water. So if it is in a basement expect the temperature to drop at least 5 degrees. You can set it to electric heat or hybrid. On hybrid it saves a ton of energy. Plus you do not have to vent out the exhaust like you do with natural gas. If you are able to score the tax credit it is a no brainer.
I keep looking at these since I need a new hot water heater, my current one is in the garage, and I live in South Central Texas so if it lowers the garage temp, badass!
Bought the 80 gallon last February and installed myself. My emporia energy shows the old standard electric 60 gallon used 400 to 500 kwh per month. This one (on full time heat pump mode) uses 90 to 120 kwh per month. 3 kids and a wife, never ran out of hot water. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

I love mine, as its beeping in the garage right now due to discharge temp too high. Annoying beep and horrible fixes, I would do it again all over if i had to.

Rebates delayed again for Oklahomans. Guidance for program implementation was released by the U.S. Department of Energy in July 2023, but applications for funding are not due until January 2025. Due to the complex nature of this program, quality development will take time. It will be approximately 18 – 24 months before the rebate programs are available to the Oklahoma public (Winter 2025 – Summer 2026).

I've had one since 2019. I bought a second last year because we love it so much (and now never run out of water with an effective 120 gallons on site).

Very recommend if you understand what it is and installation requirements.

Do these qualify for the 30% federal tax credit?

I've had the 80 gallon version since early 2020. Went from 50 to 80 and haven't run out of hot water on the heaviest cleaning day. Between this and 11kw of solar on the roof, my power bills are minimum bills except for Aug and Sep because of cloudy, stormy skies and hot temps driving A/C usage. It's in my garage in Florida and had only one issue with a condensate line clog last year.

Would love to buy this. But my basement has no drain point. Any idea? 💡

Any way to have it drain into a basin and use a sump pump to discharge into a waste line or out a wall higher up?

Thats heavily dependent on your local codes, but my normal gas water heater & furnace drained into a sump pump, but later I added basement plumbing (basement bathroom) with a solid waste ejector pump that pumps straight into my drain line into the sewer above the basement. Apparently if you did a drain into a sump pump is not to code today.

My LP direct vent drains into a condensate pump and pumps through a small hole to the outside of the house.

Just installed a 65 from HD yesterday, from when they were on sale a few weeks ago. 65 is large and needs to be transported upright so I had it delivered, first one had a dent so I got another and love it. When I was cleaning up after the install last night, the air coming out of the heater, felt cooler than my garage mini split, perfect for South Florida.
