if u don't care about the display.. ya. imo, now that the 11" are oled... I wouldn't get anything less than that but that's just me.

It hurts that I do care about display. I don't want to wait until Big Tariff hits and get fomo. I have an iPad Pro 2018 so the ProMotion is great, but the battery's worn down and I always wanted cellular. the storage is a bonus but it's not needed, wish I could get less storage and get a cellular iPad Air for cheaper Frown

A hotspot is generally more useful than an iPad with a celluar modem if you ever want to use multiple devices on the go

Save yourself $200 & use your phone as a hotspot. Frankly for $799 I would rather get a MacBook.

I got the 11 m2 air for 399 and super happy with it. Had the 12.9 M1 Pro before.

my goal is to use as an almost replacement for my MBP when travelling etc.

I am pretty sure I can do almost anything I can do with the MBP other than maybe Premiere Pro work.
