<Grumpy boomer rant> "I suggest a $10K watch instead of this $100 watch, because who cares what people think". "Back in my day we walked both ways to school uphill in the snow with a sundial on our wrists and we liked it".
Thanks.

I see lot of other model options under that page, which model is worth in terms of quality and quartz world?

I have this watch. It's a great deal and actually useful in a world with smartphones. A 12-hour chronograph for this price is hard to get and comes in handy. I use it at work to time tasks without having to take out my phone, which can be distracting. A normal chronograph that goes up 30 minutes is only useful for cooking.

I mean, we can all look at our phones to tell the time.

Which means, watches are only a status symbol/flex piece.

A $100 flex piece kind of defeats the purpose πŸ˜‚

Highly recommend a Grand Seiko instead. Grand Seiko = technically superior to Rolex, while telling the world "I own this watch for my own pleasure, I don't give a f@ck about hollow status symbols."

edit: this is quartz movement as well, not automatic. In my day, quartz watches used to cost less than lunch costs today.

I have a similar titanium chrono and I have to say, if you have never worn a titanium watch, it will blow your mind. Incredibly light and wild how fast it warms on your wrist. You don't even feel it on.
This is a very nice looking watch and a steal at $109.

I'm a big watch fan… you're always going to have the "but my phone" people. You don't hear them jumping in with "why buy a book when kindle" "why buy a gas car when electric" "why play an instrument when Spotify"…..

Look they're fun. 90% of people quartzes are great. Mechanical watches tend to only hold enough power reserve for a couple days of it sitting. Quartz you can leave it on the night stand for a month before putting it on again and Itll still have the perfect time.

Don't listen to the "but my phone" people. They're no fun. You like? Buy. It's going to be pretty bulletproof since it's a Seiko

Too small for my wrist, legitimately would look strange. I know y'all couldn't care less about my wrist size, but felt the need to share for all those that typically say any listing over 42mm is "too big for me."

On the quartz side, the movements are all going to be fine at this price point. So you need to go by aesthetics and functionality. On the quartz ladder, the step up to functionality (in no particular order) are i) solar, ii) perpetual calendar, iii) radio, iv) gps, v) high accuracy +- 5 secs per year to +- 1 sec a year.

Citizen is the king in all of these. Most of these are going to be sub $1k; Citizen's 'The Citizen' line will cross $1k, and caliber 0100 will cross $5k. That's all of quartz world.

Dramatic much? Fully auto, quality time pieces can be had for under $1k.

here's one example:

Better to spend a little more for a quality automatic if you're going to wear a watch in 2025.

Those are incredibly plane-Jane non-chrono watches. If you want an automatic chronograph that doesn't run on crap Chinese internals, you wouldn't really find one until you start shelling out $1500.

Seeing as you're only aware of quartz watches as long as they're sub $20 and your suggestion for a good automatic "status symbol" is something that is inexpensive, totally unremarkable, and impresses no one, it just sounds like you talk big about clout-chasing but don't really have the wallet to match your mouth.

The BALL Calibre RR1102 in the $800 watch I linked above, is a SWISS Automatic movement, based upon ETA 2836-2, containing 25 Jewels, bitting at 28800 vph, and has a power reserve of approximately 38 hour.

Go take your meds & stop embarrassing yourself.

Ah, classic SD watch drama, I'm surprised someone hasn't said anything about being uncertain about Jorma yet.

Good deal! Thanks!
