Heck of a good deal for plates plus a 7' bar and spring clips. I purchased just the plates on a slick deal a while back for around this price. Nice find!

I've been looking around for a good deal on weights. Thanks for posting. I did find these as well:
260lb weight set (no bar) $210 shipped
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHYNHYJD

300lb Olympic weight set with bar $300 local pickup
https://www.dickssportinggoods.co...bstwth7brb

I'm thinking the dicks sporting goods one. I like the feel of the metal plates and the more granular sizes. Anyone have experience with either?

I don't have either of these exact ones, but prefer the non-bumper plates I have. I started thinking that the bumpers were strictly better, but two things nice about the metal plates. One is the size- just easier to manage, even if you aren't maxing out bar space. Second is the handles- easier to maneuver, use for light farmer carries, core work, etc

I have that Dicks set and it's been great for 5+ years. Like you said, the handles make the plates easier to manage, and the 5lb and 2.5lb plates are nice to small increases.

Bar has a slight bend when loaded up over 300, but nothing to worry about. I would buy a better bar if I needed to load 400.

Watch for sales, it drops lower than $300 a few times a year.

Personally i recommend getting the 260 lb set and a high quality bar. Colorado bar on sale a good option. Also the rogue ohio bar highly regarded. Getting the deal with the cheap barbell and then saving for a better one also good idea. Its what i did and i squat and usually deadlift with my cheap bar. Both the higher tier bars will be just fine for deadlift Nd squat too, i just baby my expensive bar 😭

I had the dicks ones. Didn't like them. The imperfections cut into your skin when you move them around. They chip easy. Don't drop them. Felt like I needed to wear gloves. This walmart deal seems great, I would prefer these as it makes it easier to do things like dead lifts or rows. if you need a handle to pickup a 45 maybe you need some work.

Rogue Boneyard bars are the best way to go for home gym use. I got a 28mm bar for $175 shipped on sale and it practically looked perfect on arrival. I made worse marks on it after a week of use. I think the so-called "training" bar is pretty much an Ohio Bar anyway.

Is 28mm the most standard size?

I have rubber coated plates and hate the smell. Would definitely go metal if I had to do it again.

The Fitness Gear set uses non standard diameter 45 lb plates. They're 15.75" vs standard 17.7". This will make deadlifts harder and be an issue if you need to buy more 45s later.

From what I've read, I think 28mm is pretty well rounded and a standard for IWF competitions. I've heard some people may find them too whippy, idk. Some people prefer bigger bars for certain lifts like squats and bench. Whereas, I believe people like the smaller size for deadlifts. Considering I'm not anywhere near high level competition strength, I've never noticed any issues that I'd want something else.
