If you want heavyweight with pockets, go with "basketball" shorts.
They don't make them like they used to (Adidas basketball), but the Champion "basketball" shorts (mesh) are still semi-heavyweight.

Does anyone have a recommendation for reasonably priced 7" inseam training/running shorts with side zip pockets? I've been to several TJ Maxx stores and finding side zip pockets is tough!
No chance you own these. They are gym shorts. They're supposed to be breathable and lightweight. Mine feel like every other basketball short I've owned my entire life. They fit and feel great.
You're right. I just wanted to jump on this thread and see if I could get a response from some random telling me what I do and don't own. If you like them, great. I maintain my position that they're cheap pieces of shit and not on par with the usual quality I expect from Adidas.
