One thing to look for on these cheap ones, most of them do not have camera exposure control, so at night, headlights wash out the screen
I wouldn't put this one in the cheap category. Keepa shows the price for the last 4 months from $118-$199 with an average price of $140. Red Tiger is definitely one of the more expensive brands on Amazon.
But I totally agree with your statement though about the headlights turning the entire rear view mirror into a white screen on cheap quality cameras, but that doesn't seem to be an issue for this camera, or brand.
Only suggestion I would make is toss the memory card it comes with and get a high quality one designed for dash cams/lots of rewriting. The one it comes with might be fine but you don't want to find out when you need the video and it's corrupted due to a cheap memory card. I almost never use bundled memory cards unless it truly something I don't mind losing. I'm not speaking theoretically, but from experience. Got into an accident and the bundled memory card was corrupt. Luckily was able to run some recovery software and get the key portion of the video restored but took a lot of effort and extra $$$ for the recovery license, which was ~2-3x more than the cost of a quality memory card.

I bought 2 for mine. Every 6 months or so I'll swap them. Take the existing, plug it into my pc, do a full low level format/scrub to ensure it's still good, rinse, repeat.

The code just worked for at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. I'm just sure if I want it even at $85.

This thread discusses an alternate brand,https://slickdeals.net/f/18201487-viofo-on-dash-car-cameras-a229-pro-3-channel-280-a229-plus-2-channel-159-80-more-free-s-h…which (Featured Comments) mentions Project Farm testing:www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLjGazIxjEAThe F7N-PLUS (similar, prior version??) seemed to do pretty well at 2 in his rankings. Can skip to the end for results if limited time…https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098WVKF19Hopefully this is even better with STARVIS 2. The mounting, 32v64 mem card, IPSvTouch screen seem to differ also.
you would think this would be miles better with starvis 2 alone, but I haven't been able to find any direct comparisons. Seems weird the pro is the same price/cheaper than the f7nplus while getting starvis 2 and a larger memory card. Both of those elements alone should bring a higher price. Also wonder why keep producing f7n-plus when the pro is pretty much same thing with a starvis 2 upgrade which should be overall better. newer doesn't always mean better and I feel they made have cheapened out on some other internal parts to get starvis 2.

anther weird thing, their official website has zero mention of starvis 1 or 2 on the f7n plus or pro. I have an f7n plus (very happy) and trying to figure out if it's worth swapping out. something keeps telling me to stick with the f7n plus, just do to the great reviews, mainly from project farm. f7n plus also seems to be there best seller, like 10x the pro. I'd hate for the pro to vary in some way in overall quality

Very nice dashcam. Using it for 2+ years and no issues with it. Video quality also nice.

There are several grades of Starvis 2 sensors, and not all of them are 'real' 4K. You would need to know the exact prt number of the sensor to know what the real resolution is.

I think I bought the refurbished version of this from a SD via ebay for $57. 2yr allstate warranty. The rear cam quality is not that good. Project Farm did a review. This came in 2nd to Viofo. I did have to buy a different length of cord to connect to a different cigarette adapter.

Amazon should just redirect to aliexpress
Where do you think Viofo, one of the highest rated brands out there, got it's start? I was around when TechMoan was making dashcam vids on YT and everything came out of China. Show us another dashcam that isn't made in China.

Chinese manufacturers created the dashcam to fill the void people were using hobbycams for. The only other option out there was Blackvue which hasn't dropped from their premium pricing and came out after the Chinese manufacturers already had their products in the market.

That's the f7n "plus" and this is the "pro". Are they the same?

I have one and like it, but have one warning, the wifi on it is very slow. I normally take out the memory card to transfer files.

I know it is more expensive but I compared this with Viofo A229 plus and went with Viofo. The rear camera on Viofo has starvis sensor and 2k. Couple of times I had accident it was people hitting me from the rear. Furthermore, Viofo has HDR which gives it better video. Finally, the starvis 2 on Viofo is slighty better version. I bought Viofo when it was on sale for $160. My two cents.

Looks like the FN plus has a waterproof rear while the Pro does not and slower wifi
